This years draft seems like it'll be the best in a long time.

Justin Blackmon WR OK St coming up on ESPN in an hour or so, looks like a Dez Bryant clone check him out if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing him this year. 100+ yards and at least 1 TD in every single game this year

Are these the same scouts that rated Locker #1 a year ago?

note: I think Luck is a much better prediction than Locker...

He hasn't announced either way yet asfaik. Pretty good chance he'd be a first rounder if he did, though.

And if Luck has a bad first year then get another QB? Then another? Please. It's very rare that a QB comes in and does much at all when they start as rookies.

Carolina may trade their 1st round pick.

I agree with Bernie. Look at Aikmans and Manning rookie years. They should trade down and gain more picks to get WR and other support for Claussen.

Weren't all the same experts sitting here last April saying Claussen was the most NFL ready QB in the draft?

Just saying, but it's pretty -EV when a 2nd round QB who's supposed to be NFL ready proves to be horrendous. Some of the logic being thrown out here is getting a bit out of hand.

I just feel bad for Bills fans. Buffalo should've had Luck on lockdown after starting 0-8. Now Nix is about to wreck the next decade with Fitzpatrick at the helm. Sigh.

bad comparison. im not sure about aikman but manning was a cant miss QB prospect and was drafted #1 overall. claussen fell to the 2nd rd and was not loved by everyone.

they have had a year to evaluate him and they need to still be 100% no doubt about it confident in him to continue w/ him. if they are then QB isnt an issue, if they arent there is no need to be stubborn and pass on Luck. They can trade claussen for something, he has value.

a great QB is a franchise changer and when one comes available you go get him. all the other pieces will be a lot more easier to fill in when QB is secure.

Yeah, thats kinda the point....Clausen's biggest strength was that he should be closer to his peak than the other rookie QBs, so the fact that hes been so bad probably means he just sucks.

If you were ranking the NFL teams' current QB situations from 1-32 where would Carolina rank? Luck is a great prospect, I think it'd be silly for a team to pass on him unless they had a top 20 QB situation at worst.

Panthers shoud just fold the franchise if they don't select Luck.

If he's the GOAT QB prospect you prob need a top 7 QB to pass on him.

Torrey Smith declared for the Draft after the MD bowl game. Likely a Second or 3rd round pick.

Is Clausen that bad?

Aren't his numbers about the same as Eli's rookie stats?

Clausen rookie QB rating: 56.8
Eli rookie QB rating: 55.4

Clausen rookie ANY/A: 2.9
Eli rookie ANY/A: 3.2

Clausen rookie cmp%: 51.9
Eli rookie cmp%: 48.2

It's less than likely that he follows Eli Manning's path of progression. Right now he's just a guy who's not good enough to QB in the NFL, and it's not a given that he ever will be. What could they trade him for right now? Maybe a 5th rounder? His value is just so miniscule in comparison to the #1 pick.

if the hype is real and nfl scouts truly believe he is as good as the espn machine is pimping then id say these guys are preferable

peyton
brady
rivers
rodgers
brees
vick
rape
ryan
freeman
romo

these are mebbe/probably:

schaub
flacco

makes little sense to argue that you haven't really seen what clausen can do. if luck is a better prospect then clausen the panthers should take him.

well the teams got a look at clausen and decided that either this was not true or that he had little upside. even if the experts were correct in their assessment and he fell for character issues or something, that doesn't mean he should be given extra time. as stated above if a player projects to be significantly better then he should be selected

If Luck does turn out to be a great QB then the NFC South will be the most stacked division at the QB position ever (until Brees slows down)?

His value is miniscule compared to the #1 pick, but a 5th rounder would be a steal.

Kelly, Marino, and.... Ken O'Brien? Jack Trudeau? Steve Grogan? Help me out here because that seems like 2.5/5 good QBs.

O'Brien had some really good years. I guess Eason might have been hurt that year but he had some good years too. Maybe '85 would be a better choice, but then you have to go with Mike Pagel for the Colts. And that's just wrong. Trudeau was Delhomme before it was cool.

Ok I found a good year for Eason - 1986. I guess he really didn't do much. I just remember being so pissed that Chiefs managed to take the one complete dud in the class of '83 - Blackledge.
