How can you move OK state down only to 3? It's easily arkanss...ok state had one of the absolute worse losses you can possibly have in terms of how bad it can hurt you..arkansas is playing like one of the top schools in the country and their only loss was to alabama weeks ago

I'm sure the pollsters will have Arkansas #3 since it's all about when in the season you lose with them, but Oklahoma State has a much better resume. They've beat 5 teams ranked in the Sagarin predictor Top 30 to Arkansas's 2, and while they did have the bad loss to Iowa State, Arkansas nearly lost to two much worse teams, beating Ole Miss by 5 and Vanderbilt by 4.

No 1, 2, and 3 are CLEARLY going to be LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas respectively. OSU gets the privilege of going No 4 given the fact that the current 4, 5, and 7 all took a loss. Standford, Boise, and Houston, in no particular order, take up the slack at 5 through 7, with the two-loss teams showing up around No 8 (probably Oregon here).

As for giving Arkansas the nod over OSU, I think it isn't just about who you beat but who you took a loss to. OSU was a four TD favorite to win against ISU and ended up taking a dump and THAT is kinda a big deal.

So yeah:
1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Arkansas
4. OSU
5-7. Stanford/Boise/Houston
8. Oregon

And so on...

I don't get why the computers/Sagarin love the Big XII so damn much. I don't think any team in the Big 12 is that good. Put Okie Lite against Wisconsin on a neutral site and Wisconsin is at least 3 point favorites if not more.

That loss against Alabama was bad, but we also were missing two starting defensive ends - Jake Bequette and Tenarius Wright. Leading SEC rusher Knile Davis out for the season. It was also Tyler Wilson's first SEC game where he started at QB, and it was at Tuscaloosa.

On a neutral field and without major injuries, Arkansas would play Alabama a much closer game.

every team from 3 to 30 seems rated way too high, but all in a reasonable order.
It apprears to all make sense, in some strange way.

Perhaps if you went

1.
2.

3-30

I'd feel better about it...lol

Maybe too much love for Baylor and not enough for VT, though I know VT has rnot eally beaten anyone, so..... you have a point.

Good job

I don't think BSC will looks like yours 3 to 10.

It's because they went 27-3 in non-conference play with lots of good wins. The only losses were Arkansas over Texas A&M, Arizona State over Missouri, and Georgia Tech over Kansas.

They are when you are 4 TD favorites.

The same could be said of big 10. They just keep beating up on each other so the only point of reference we have is that Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State are all really good (so we think!). There are just not enough OOC games to judge whether, for example, the 2 Michigan teams are better than the 2Oklahoma Teams.

When I saw Iggy's rankings I thought he had USC, Oregon and Stanford too high. I'm not sure he does but it seems that when top teams in a conference start beating on each other they all rise instead of all slip...

As I noted before, it so tough for Iggy or anyone to do this.

Does the Big Ten have any significant OOC games from this season? I feel like they're the only conference where I have no grasp of their true strength.

Oddly enough, I posted that in Quick Reply before the Big T12n vs. Big IIXII discussion started.

I think it is the combined effect of making a check in the "L" column and the fact that they were 4 touchdown favorites that is going to do OSU in here. A "W" is of primary importance and style points, which is all a difference of 19 points out of 43 really amount to, are FAR less important imo.

Okie Lite being 4 TD favorites over Iowa State seems absurd in hindsight, but based on some of the tough games Iowa State had played this year already, I'd like to think it would have seemed absurd in foresight had I known.

no way.

at home I think wisco is favored against all but 3 or 4 teams. on a neutral site I don't even know if we should be favored over USC

The deciding factor, at least for Sagarin, seems to be how the entire Big XII avoided any particularly bad losses (such as Ole Miss vs. LA Tech, Iowa vs. Army, or Minnesota vs. New Mexico State) while compiling a superior OOC record. I

What excuses do you have for Vandy and Ole Miss?

So if Arkansas win next week they're the #1 team in the country?
