It would be sick if the NCAA forced teams to save the second to last date of the season (the traditional slot where all the SEC teams play the 1-aa teams) as an open date for their last OOC game. All the teams that have traditional OOC rivals (FSU/Florida, Georgia/Georgia Tech, USC/ND) could play on that date. Everybody else schedules their week 11 game after week 6. Plenty of time to get logistics ready for the game, but teams could schedule based on where they are in the season.

Washington, Penn State, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, LSU all have an early loss? drop that 1-aa team you wouldn've scheduled and schedule another contender to get back in it!

UCF having a surprisingly good season, and stuck with with the patsies they scheduled 2 years ago? Challenge Alabama!

How do you decide who plays who? Rank all the teams from 1-119. Start with #1. You get to play whoever you want, BUT it has to be a road game. OR you can pass, and then you get to play whoever chooses you, but you get them at home.

So, Alabama would be 6-0 and cruising and thinking they have a good shot at winning out, so they might choose to go play a road game at UAB or some small school nearby which would (a) be SICK for UAB, who otherwise never gets to play Alabama, and (b) introduce all sorts of sick strategy. Probably the top 6 would choose to do something like that, but if any of them pass, then the Washington/Penn State/UCFs of the world would be challenging them to play at their place
You're entertaining GB. You had me laughing because this is something I totally would've came up with in my younger days.

This **** is not impossible. VT/Marshall, Akron/USCe scheduled new games halfway through the season to replace their canceled hurricane games
Another idea is to give the teams the option to switch players. Imagine if right after OSU had been upset by Purdue if they were able to come back the next game and just switch teams with Nebraska. I feel like if Urban was able to beat a team of OSU players with a team of Nebraska players then it would have put OSU right back into the playoff picture.

OU 69%
ND 62%???

ND is a lock, so not sure how they get this....
has 538 made 1 good sports model ever? I quit giving them any credence the year the world cup was in Brazil and they had them something like 60% to win pre tournament when vegas said 33%. Nate Silver may be good at politics but whoever he has making sports models has was too much fps

This is such a cool idea. Will never happen, but a really great idea.

How ****ing lame is this? Risk your lifelong physical health, but don't show any outward emotion. Are they really trying to coddle these beasts of athletes from a hand gesture?

If I were an OU player and the game were not in doubt I’d want the whole team to do it, one at a time. Kick off from your own 1, who cares. Of course the school would be fined by the conference but it would be a nice eff you gesture from the labor.

They should use horns down as one of the sideline playcall cards.

texas just has a huge amount of pull in the big12. and kids making fun of them can't be good for recruiting.
