In this game you had to take 5 plus steps to be called for a travel. Both teams got away with a lot of extra steps.

if that's a flagrant, so are 90% of fouls-for-free-throws at ends of games. it was horse ****
90% of fouls at the end are just a reach through the body towards the ball, not a two handed shove to someones back

he had 0% chance at even touching the ball and wasn't even between the player and the basket so it wasn't a blocking foul or anything just trying to impede his progress. He lunged at him and 2 hand shoved the guy.

the thing is there are so many hundreds and thousands of what should be intentional fouls at the end of games, if it's commonly accepted that we just let that happen, you need to give a pretty big latitude for them being common fouls and not call .01% of them intentional and those randoms are just screwed. he was just trying to touch him hard enough that the refs actually call it, and he accidentally tripped him at the same time, no trip and this is a common all day, even if two hands and not going for the ball is technically intentional.

right, this is more or less how i feel. i feel like i've seen dozens and dozens of fouls like this called common, and the only reason they called it flagrant was due to the accidental trip.

maybe this is the one reffing crew this year who interpreted the rule correctly, but it's horse **** that the rule is not called uniformly in endgame situations.

i'm not talking about the very on purpose trip that Grayson had and was suspended for, but rather the 4 or 5 other ones that resulted in ESPN alerts and debates by talking heads over whether they were suspension worthy

This one was a clearly purposeful shove even though the tripping part was incidental

the rules allow for you to foul on purpose as long as it is disguised as a play on the ball. you can't come from behind or the side unless you at least reach towards the ball with one of your arms. In this case he extended his arms into the player without even reaching towards the ball which was much lower and on the other side of the body. It wasn't how hard the foul was, but rather the direction he came from and how far away from the ball he was

Looking at that Seton Hall flagrant reply again, and he wouldn't likely wouldn't have fallen if there wasn't that incidental trip after the push. Don't think it would have been called flagrant without the trip.

It wasn't intentional; if you think it was intentional, you are soft. Standard foul.

you think the foul was not intentional? how is that possible? they were in a must foul situation. Of course it was intentional.
