If one or neither of them win, no difference. But if you are lucky enough that they both win, your expected wins (1 guaranteed win + whatever expectation the winner has going forward) is a lot higher if they face each other than if they are apart
Probably a large enough boost to justify taking a reasonably worse team in the first round, depending on your scoring system
Or at least to not preference picking a better team and hope u get stuck with the weaker one, i.e. better to have a strong 13 and 14 with a corresponding weak 12 and 11 than it is to have a strong 11 and 12 and weak 13 and 14 in different pods
I'm guessing a perfect AI drafter gives up points in places to increase chances of actually winning, possibly quite often. You only have to win by 1.
Think this probably works out further away with the 1-4 seeds as well.
