I'm more interested in this. Wtf?

http://www.espn.com/college-football...-death-threats

Then there is this

Quote:
“The University Athletic Association takes the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and families very seriously,” UF’s Athletics Association spokesman Steve McClain said in a statement. “Our administration met with Coach McElwain this afternoon and he offered no additional details.”

Question: Why would UF release such a strangely worded statement bringing into question the authenticity of the death threats? Why did UF feel the need to tack on those last five words … “He offered no additional details.”
Is McElwain trying to distract from his teams performance this year or get some sympathy to not get fired? #tinfoilhat

On the surface, we're 4-4 and scoring 28.4ppg to 28.4ppg

One level down though, we're getting crushed 5.65 YPP to 4.86YPP. That's a big difference.

Primarily because we've run hotter than expectation on turnovers (+5) and 4th down conversions (20/31 in our favor)

You might believe we're actually good at getting picks because Wilcox looks to be such a smart defensive coach and our players are consistently in the right position, but #2 in the country is almost certainly above expectation.

That said, CU looks almost identical. 4-4 and 25.8ppg to 24.6ppg in spite of being outgained 5.92 ypp to 5.31ypp and +4 TOs (including 14/20 fumble recoveries which is all luck)

Three common opponents... we both got stomped by Washington, we both lost narrowly to Arizona and then obv the big outlier is we crushed Wazzu who crushed them. We even both have the same WWWLLLWL profile. The 5 opponents we don't have in common, Cal's are a bit tougher which gives them the edge.

Idk, nets out we look pretty even, maybe Cal has a slight, slight edge. Dunno about injuries. Then HFA, which is maybe a little greater b/c Boulder is a mile above sea level... makes sense to me

Colorado should've lost @ Oregon State. The Beavs dominated the better part of that game but kept having to settle for short field goals.

Is there some law that says Colorado has to be either complete garbage or winner of their division?

Yeah I was at the UGA-GT game at the time sweating y'all hard. Even though we beat Tech, like usual, the nerds were screaming TENN E SSEE to us because UT's victory kept us out of the SECCG and essentially national semifinal against LSU.

Despite a few close losses last year, I have so much more confidence in this UF game with Kirby at the helm than if it was "Can't win the big one" Richt. I really expect UGA to finish 11-1 at this point.

Ha, poor McElwain; nobody even believes him that he got death threats. I mean everybody immediately believed Sumlin was getting death threats--nobody asked to see any proof or anything. McElwains says just the same thing and suddenly everybody turns into Perry Mason!

I think Sumlins wife posted the letter on twitter iirc and that's how it came out that he was getting death threats.

Regardless, Flight for Jacksonville leaves tomorrow. Super pumped for the game even though I think it could get ugly
