I don't think Cinci is terrible or anything but many teams in the top 25 are battle tested on a week to week basis, especially teams in the SEC and BiG10. It's unfair to have a team win one big game in their entire season and make the playoffs when other teams go through the gauntlet in their respected conferences. Physically and mentally their road on a week to week basis to the playoffs is just so much easier.
Okay, so 3 teams. Ironically, one of which more “survived” than “destroyed” Cincy 6 games ago. Also funny you named Pitt since lol ACC—they are the only team in Sagarin’s top 25 with a comparably weak strength of schedule.
All the other teams (unless Oklahoma runs the table) that would be strong enough to be a non-embarrassment will have lost to those 3 and/or each other already. So it would just be boring retreads or some 2 touchdown dog ACC/Big12/PAC anyway and we’ve already repeatedly seen how putrid those games are. Besides, they might not even be the 4th seed, so maybe we get a true “Championship of Ohio” game for the first round.
But if I were you I wouldn’t lose any sleep over the chance the committee takes Cincy, barring some sort of shenanigans to throw the Big12 a bone.
