No comments on Saban leaving his last 2 TOs in his pocket? Seemed weird to me, I'm sure Jimbo didn't mind.

The TOs Saban should have spent furiously were in the first half.

Yeah they kicked it on 2nd down. Use the 2 timeouts and they just kick an even shorter fg on fourth down with no time left

I'm not a big college guy. Aside from A&M what else what noteworthy? Boise over byu? Seems everything else was pretty par for the course.

No, earlier than that when they could have held A&M to a longish FG and get the ball back. Instead Saban conceded to let it ride on a FG miss and go to OT.

I don't think it was so much that there were wild upsets as that the big games were all entertaining. Red River shootout, Arky going for the win, ND winning at night in Blacksburg, Michigan fighting off Indy, Wake staying undefeated in OT, #3 UK jumping all over LSU, Iowa/PSU was weird.

Great day of football, and then Fury pummels Wilder late night.

Penn St. up 20-13 in 4th lost to Iowa 23-20, Texas, up 28-7 got beat by Oklahoma 55-48, Ole Miss scored 21 in 4th to beat Arkansas 52-51, Michigan came from behind to beat Nebraska 32-29 and stay undefeated, Notre Dame, down 29-21, scored 11 straight to win 32-29 over Va Tech. And A&M over Bama of course.

Less upsets and more 4th qtr dramatics.

Really hope Cinci gets upset or I fear a really good team is going to be left out of the playoffs this year. They look destined to go undefeated based on their remaining schedule and with their current rank you'd have to assume they'd get in if that takes place.

Personally, I think there are currently about 15 teams better than them and atleast five that would absolutely demolish them on average so I hope we don't see that take place.

I think there are far fewer good and great teams than you think.

Who are these 5 teams that would absolutely demolish them?

OU is 7th overall in computer composite (Cincy is 5th), so they are right on the cusp of being one of the top 5 excluding Cincy and they can't demolish even complete trash teams.

ND is 11th in the composite (10th once you remove Cincy) and literally just lost by double digits to Cincy at home.

Wake Forest is 14th, BYU (was) 15th. These are the teams that are better than Cincy? Not buying it.

Pretty eventful day.

Texas +4.5 bad beat
OSU - 20.5
Meechagan moneyline
Notre Dame moneyline
Texas A&M moneyline (got the last two scores in each of those last 3 to win)

Been expecting both great things and stupid things from A&M since Fisher went there. Got a payoff here. Plus 500-something.

Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio St I think would all destroy Cinci. Maybe they can sort of hang in there with most of the other teams but I'd take a team as far down as say a team like Pitt to play within a FG against Cinci on a neutral field. I don't think Cinci is terrible or anything but many teams in the top 25 are battle tested on a week to week basis, especially teams in the SEC and BiG10. It's unfair to have a team win one big game in their entire season and make the playoffs when other teams go through the gauntlet in their respected conferences. Physically and mentally their road on a week to week basis to the playoffs is just so much easier.

Okay, so 3 teams. Ironically, one of which more “survived” than “destroyed” Cincy 6 games ago. Also funny you named Pitt since lol ACC—they are the only team in Sagarin’s top 25 with a comparably weak strength of schedule.

All the other teams (unless Oklahoma runs the table) that would be strong enough to be a non-embarrassment will have lost to those 3 and/or each other already. So it would just be boring retreads or some 2 touchdown dog ACC/Big12/PAC anyway and we’ve already repeatedly seen how putrid those games are. Besides, they might not even be the 4th seed, so maybe we get a true “Championship of Ohio” game for the first round.

But if I were you I wouldn’t lose any sleep over the chance the committee takes Cincy, barring some sort of shenanigans to throw the Big12 a bone.

Yep I would not be sad at all if some shitty pac 12 or big 12 team gets left out in favor of cincy. The big 12 has never won a single playoff game in 7 years, the pac 12 has one win when Oregon beat fl st 7 years ago.

The brief history of the college football dull playoff portrays the beat down of a team chosen because they needed a #4. Just because ESPN and the big conferences contractually declared that the season would end with 4 contenders does not mean there are four teams within striking distance of each other.

That is why the bowl system was more suitable to the completely uneven landscape of college football. Jan 1st could begin with one or even six teams with natty equity.
