Maybe a little light on premium games this week, but some more conference matchups and teams that know each other.
Matchup, Time (ET), TV
Thursday, September 20
Tulsa at Temple @ 7:30pm - ESPN
A prime matchup of the team that lost close at Texas and lost less close to Arkansas State vs the team that lost to Villanova and Buffalo before beating Maryland on the road last week. Perhaps Temple can try to prove that they do not, in fact, hate Philadelphia?
Friday, September 21
Florida Atlantic at UCF @ 7:00pm - ESPN
An epic battle of Florida's 2nd and 6th or 7th best teams! Meet your new UCF coach; Josh Heupel! Yes, that's right, it's that ***hole again! Gotta' hand it to UCF; a former Big 8 (or whatever) championship quarterback who couldn't hack it in the pros *has* worked out for them in the past. He can't feel all that secure though, kind of like when my girlfriends noticed my exes were all redheads, too.
Penn State at Illinois @ 9:00pm - FS1 Washington State at USC @ 10:30pm - ESPN
Now this is an unusually intriguing game for a late Friday affair! USC is favored by a full 3.5, which seems like too much except Wazzu hasn't actually played anyone yet. Say what you will about USC, they are still anyone.
Saturday, September 22
Akron at Iowa State @ 12:00pm - FSN Boston College at Purdue @ 12:00pm - ESPN2
Suddenly and inexplicably, this has become a must see game! As Bears mentioned, Purdue has been winning the ypp game, whereas BC has been winning the actual games! There's a good chance Purdue comes away from this as the best 0-4 team we've ever seen!
Buffalo at Rutgers @ 12:00pm - BTN Georgia at Missouri @ 12:00pm - ESPN
This will be Georgia's 2nd straight road game against a team considered virtually just as good as the one they just slaughtered, just in case you were looking forward to this.
Kent State at Ole Miss @ 12:00pm - SECN
Minnesota at Maryland @ 12:00pm - BTN
Navy at SMU @ 12:00pm - ESPNU/ESPNews
Nebraska at Michigan @ 12:00pm - FS1
Nevada at Toledo @ 12:00pm - CBSSN Notre Dame at Wake Forest @ 12:00pm - ABC
So far Notre Dame has kept their winning margins to a touchdown or less. That would be getting downright silly here.
Ohio at Cincinnati @ 12:00pm - ESPNU/ESPNews
Pitt at North Carolina @ 12:20pm - Raycom Sports
Louisville at Virginia @ 12:30pm - RSN
Western Michigan at Georgia State @ 2:00pm - ESPN Plus
Illinois State at Colorado State @ 3:00pm - ATTSN
Maine at Central Michigan @ 3:00pm - ESPN Plus
Miami (Ohio) at Bowling Green @ 3:00pm - ESPN Plus
WKU at Ball State @ 3:00pm - ESPN3
Charlotte at UMass @ 3:30pm - ES/NESNplus Clemson at Georgia Tech @ 3:30pm - ABC or ESPN
Second straight option opponent for Clemson, hilariously favored by only 17 points due to Georgia Tech's, haw haw, home field advantage.
FIU at Miami (FL) @ 3:30pm - ESPN/2/U
This one pitts Florida's best team against its 7th best (or...worst?) team.
Gardner-Webb at Appalachian State @ 3:30pm - ESPN Plus Kansas at Baylor @ 3:30pm - FS1
There is no better time for Kansas to be coming on like a madman, in my opinion! Baylor is still favored by more than a touchdown and I, for one, intend to take it!
Kansas State at West Virginia @ 3:30pm - ABC/ESPN/2
NC Central at Duke @ 3:30pm - ACCNExtra NIU at Florida State @ 3:30pm - ESPN/2/U
Just keep it in the background and be ready to switch over and laugh should it come to that again.
Texas A&M at Alabama @ 3:30pm - CBS
Alabama's toughest opponent by a full ten points and they're STILL 26 point favorites. Sheesh.
Tulane at Ohio State @ 3:30pm - BTN
Finally the matchup everyone has been waiting for. Perhaps with the addition of Urban Meyer, tOSU can handle Tulane.
Virginia Tech at Old Dominion @ 3:30pm - CBSSN
Arizona at Oregon State @ 4:00pm - Pac-12N South Carolina at Vanderbilt @ 4:00pm - SECN
It's an SEC West pecking order game!
UConn at Syracuse @ 4:00pm - ESPNews TCU at Texas @ 4:30pm - FOX
Hey look, it's a matchup of 2-1 teams!
McNeese at BYU @ 6:00pm - BYUtv
North Texas at Liberty @ 6:00pm - ESPN3 Arkansas at Auburn @ 7:30pm - ESPN/2/SECN
At this point I guess we're just trying to find out how bad Arkansas can get.
Army at Oklahoma @ 7:00pm - FSOK PPV / SoonerSports.tv
Coastal Carolina at Louisiana @ 7:00pm - ESPN Plus Florida at Tennessee @ 7:30pm - ESPN/2/SECN
Just a reminder there were days when this was regularly the biggest game on the SEC calendar. Not this one--this one who gives a ****?
LA Tech at those great American heroes, LSU @ 7:00pm - ESPN2 or ESPNU Mississippi State at Kentucky @ 7:00pm - ESPN/2/U
Smh, it's a battle of undefeateds.
NC State at Marshall @ 7:00pm - CBSSN
Rice at Southern Miss @ 7:00pm - ESPN Plus
Texas State at UTSA @ 7:00pm - ESPN Plus Texas Tech at Oklahoma State @ 7:00pm - FS1
2 teams that just topped tough Group of 5 teams, Texas Tech had been kinda written off since Ole Miss and Oklahoma State was just supposed to be the Washington Generals of Oklahoma's conference, but of course everyone wants more than that.
Troy at ULM @ 7:00pm - ESPN Plus
UNLV at Arkansas State @ 7:00pm - ESPN3
Michigan State at Indiana @ 7:30pm - BTN
New Mexico State at UTEP @ 7:30pm - ESPN3 East Carolina at USF @ 8:00pm - ESPNews
Kind of a pecking order game among the American Conference...West? Although I suppose South Florida still has designs on winning everything should the latest glory-boy qb-to coach at UCF falter.
South Alabama at Memphis @ 8:00pm - WMC-TV/ESPN3 Stanford at Oregon @ 8:00pm - ABC
Another PAC game that might be OK but hard to tell since one of these teams hasn't actually played anyone yet.
Texas Southern at Houston @ 8:00pm - ESPN3 Wisconsin at Iowa @ 8:30pm - FOX
This game sounds awful but at least it offers the prospect of Wisconsin picking up a second loss early.
Air Force at Utah State @ 10:15pm - ESPN2 Arizona State at Washington @ 10:30pm - ESPN
TV announcers can be magical. I find myself now somewhat on Herm Edwards' side strictly because of some asinine braying about the terrible decision of going for it on 4th down. Maybe the announcers should try criticizing each other? Anyway, ASU should be totally overmatched in this one.
Eastern Michigan at San Diego State @ 10:30pm - CBSSN
Duquesne at Hawaii @ 11:59pm - Spectrum
Auburn minus whatever is a lock. Arkansas got crushed at home by north Texas last week. Auburn is gonna anger **** them after what happened last week. Sorry razorbacker, this one is gonna get ugly. Malzahn loves to run it up on arky
Also, still not sure fsu pulls it together this week against niu. Can’t wait to watch that train wreck. Taggart seriously looks in over his head. (Though the o line issues are 100 percent not his fault)
FSU's OL is so terrible and some of the guys don't even know basic techniques. Like how did Jimbo even bring these guys on campus?
I think Taggart just has an offensive system that seems to work very well when he has the right pieces, but when something is missing he's just too young and inexperienced to know what to change so he just keeps mashing the same buttons. Like some other coach could salvage a decent season with all the talent FSU has, even without a functioning OL, but Taggart is not that guy. I'm still holding out hope he'll be alright once he can run his normal system, but the problem is that the OL will still be AIDS next year barring a miracle and I'm not sure if he can survive 2 terrible seasons.
FSU hired Greg Frey, who's a well-respected OL coach. I don't know how well what he teaches meshes with Taggart's offense, but he's coached up a lot of guys who made the NFL. The OL will get better, but right now it sounds like it's woefully short of tackle-sized dudes.
Yes I know he's a solid OL coach, but when you have nothing to work with there's not much you can do with an OL in the short-term. Taggart could try to gameplan around it, but he's just operating the exact same offense he would be with a good OL.
Highly unlikely. If not for Wisconsin-Iowa it would be the lowest total on the board. And whereas that one might feature good D, NIU-FSU will feature EbolAIDS.
Thanks for doing these Holliday. Wisc Iowa sounds awesome. Stablish Bowl. Cannot ****ing believe Hornishook has been there for 9 seasons. Can any Wisc lurkers explain that? This must be one of those weird multiverse things where we live in the .0001 percent of universes where Hornishook gets 40 starts at Wisc.
Urban is a great example of why, assuming you’re a scumbag, the Trump approach is best. Everyone knows you’re lying dude, don’t invite follow ups that expose it. Just deny and gaslight.
Brohms got his QB now. Hes done with the rotating 2 QB system. I think its going to remain close because of BC's run game, but at some point in the 2nd half Brohm is going to start landing his shots on the sweet spot of that BC defense and its going to be all she wrote. I feel confident going into this game. I think 0-3 Purdue is flat out a better team than 23rd ranked BC. Purdue certainly should have won that Mizzou game. The B1G has come out and said that late TD should not have been overturned.
So lets see because BC as a touchdown favorite on the road is a lot to give here, I think.
