There are what, 130 D1 teams? There isn't enough cross play between the P5 conference teams to really determine the only 4 teams that deserve to be in the playoffs.

I love 4. I don’t like the ideas of byes at all. Also don’t think a conference title if 8 teams should guarantee you a spot. Northwestern controls its destiny and is likely to have a 4th loss Saturday.

There are teams willing to schedule UCF. Its schedule is just way too light to get it into the top 4.

Temple is a 73. Beating them by 12 at home is a game score of 81.5. That's totally fine.

Clemson beat Cuse by 2 at home
LSU only beat La Tech by 17 at home
Notre Dame beat Ball State by 8, Vandy by 5 and Pitt by 5, all at home.

Yes. In adjusted YPP for the year they are a top 25 team (actually just ahead of Notre Dame). They are 55th in Sagarin but 40th in his "Recent" category. S&P+ has them at 34th and 15th in defense. I know they LOLost to Villanova and then were legit beaten by Buffalo (who's turned out to be better than expected, at least) but since then they pretty much did exactly what a good team should against a true grind of mediums; statistically dominating all 6 games against @Maryland, Tulsa, @Boston College, East Carolina, @Navy, and Cincy last week. 3 of those games had postgame win expectancies of 100% and the others were in the 70s. Even the 10 point loss @ BC was a 77% PGWE.

That is all really hard to do without being good. I did not have any expectations for them after the first two games, but it's week 10 and they've looked like a good team for the last 80% of the season straight now. @Houston and South Florida next and I think they should at least split that even with the injuries.

You may just want to go ahead and poach this coach before somebody beats you to it. Like imagine if 2018 FSU just stopped sucking after 2 games and got better as the season went on.

Even knowing nothing else about him other than the turnaround you explained I would snap take him over Taggart.

I think Taggart will be like Jimbo with FSU, he'll need to string together some amazing recruiting classes and luckbox a mega-elite QB to make any legit noise. Jimbo at least has an impressive track record coaching up QBs, I'm not sure what Willie has. I guess a super fast tempo offense, but nowadays the novelty is gone. The one bright spot for Willie is that when he first started coaching and his offenses were awful, he studied his arse off trying to learn other systems and greatly improved. So maybe he has enough hunger and room to improve. You can't really judge him too harshly b/c he probably has the worst OL situation for any P5 team, but his in-game coaching and the lack of discipline with the team both look very bleak.
