Yep. Admittedly, I don't watch alot of Big 12 games but the ones I have watched this season, and most seasons, do not pass the eye test. fwiw, I'm from Pittsburgh and I've always sort of favored defense over offense in general but still think the Big 12 is the most overrated conference in the country year after year and until they can prove otherwise, I'd much rather the committee favor a big 10 type smash mouth team over something from that conference. I'd even rather have Notre Dame in there over the teams from this conference.

ex. Texas should have beat Oklahoma St and look where they are now. I'm also not buying it was an off game for Okie St. It's simply the way that conference works. Lucky for them most things went their way this year in the close games.

It was really an OU thing. For @10 years the Sooners either got crushed by Bama or crushed SEC 2nd place.

Despite having to play in the "all offense" big-12 conference and also playing another great offensive team in the OOC (BYU), Oklahoma State is #3 in the country in YPG defense and #4 in YPP.

Yes, ahead of Michigan, Alabama, Utah, etc.

They haven't allowed 400 yards a single time this season, and have held 3 teams under 150 total yards

Alabama beat 6-6 Florida by 2, 6-6 LSU by 6, 6-6 Auburn by 2 in quadruple OT, and escaped Arkansas by 7.

Michigan beat Rutgers (!) by 7, 3-9 Nebraska by 3 and Penn State by 4.

OK State's first 7 games were all pretty close, but the last 5 have been an absolute bloodbath. They beat Kansas 55-3, won at WV 24-3, beat TCU 63-17, blanked Texas Tech 23-0 then beat a top-10 Oklahoma team narrowly

You obviously have no idea how awesome you have to be to be 6-6 in the SEC! Jeez.

OT wins over .500 SEC teams in your own state is like beating another P5 conf champ.

Seriously though, what's the spread difference between playing @Auburn vs hosting Wake Forest?

SP+ has WF 0.9 over Auburn, so 6
Sagarin says WF ahead 0.32, so 6.5
Steele’s Vegas composite thingy has WF ahead by 2.1, so 5.

I don’t see anything close to double digits.

The Sooners handled Bama pretty good one year in the Sugar Bowl outside of the playoff.

Mizzou is a good example of what I'm talking about. They are 6-6. Their six wins are over:

#180 SE Missouri State
#141 Vanderbilt
#121 North Texas
#79 Central Michigan
#75 South Carolina
#29 Florida

Their six losses are to:
#73 Boston College
#30 Tennessee
#32 Arkansas
#26 Kentucky
#12 Texas A&M
#1 UGA

They played six games against teams not ranked in the top-70!!!!!

Conversely, Colorado played 2 teams not in the top-70. So if you're a garbage team with Mizzou's schedule, you go 6-6, while you go like 3-9 or 4-8 against Colorado's lineup. And let's say you're actually decent and can win half your games against top-70 teams, you go 3-3 against those with Mizzou's schedule and 5-5 or maybe 6-4 against CU's, and so now you're 9-3 and ranked with Mizzou's sched and 7-5 or 8-4 and unranked against CU's

Except Missouri is better than Colorado and everyone knows it.

Texas A&M and LSU are another good example of schedule making one seem better than the other. LSU over A&M was thought of as an upset, but was it really?

If they had LSU's schedule, what would their record have been?
We'll toss out the 3 weak sisters that A&M and LSU played. Here's what they would have faced with LSU's schedule:

A&M @ UCLA (Sagarin #26) instead of @ Colorado (Sagarin #88)
A&M @ Kentucky (#22) instead of @ Mizzou (#72)
A&M vs Florida (#38) instead of vs SCar (#67)
A&M @ Bama instead of A&M vs Bama
Good chance A&M ends up at 6-6 (or worse) and LSU at 8-4 if they had traded schedules.
