Maybe this thread should've been called REMATCH WEEKEND instead? Seven of the nine conference championships are rematches! Miami/Clemson and Ohio State/Wisconsin are the only games where the teams will be meeting for the first time.

Boise / Fresno is the only game where the loser of the first game is currently favored to take down the title.

Friday, Dec 01, 2017 - NCAA Football Game
8:00 PM 303 Stanford 3
304 USC -3

The Trojans won the first meeting handily, but Stanford has won 8 of their last 9, including a domination of the same Irish team that ran USC off the field. If the Pac-12 were smarter about scheduling, this could've been for a playoff berth, but alas it seems like the winner will have to 'settle' for the Fiesta bowl.

Bryce Love is finally back to form, and has rushed for almost 2000 yards this year at a staggering 8.6 yards per carry clip. I suspect it has more to do with Stanford's traditionally beastly o-line, though.

Saturday, Dec 02, 2017 - NCAA Football Game
12:00 PM 315 North Texas +10½
316 Florida Atlantic -10½

In the first edition of this game, FAU put up approximately four billion yards and 80 points. Lane Kiffin's squad has won 8 in a row, while UNT is 8-1 with that FAU game being the only loss. Surprisingly, Lane Kiffin seems to have kept a pretty low profile this season, so be sure to keep this on a backup screen in case something wacky happens.

12:00 PM 317 Memphis 7
318 Central Florida -7

These teams have combined for a 21-1 record, with the lone loss coming by Memphis to UCF earlier this season in a game where they had lots of injuries. The winner is essentially guaranteed the P5 bowl slot. Hard to say how good these teams are - Memphis edged UCLA at home in Week 2, and UCF demolished a bad Maryland team. Needless to say, Scott Frost and Mike Norvell have emerged as hot coaching commodities, and this game may serve as an audition for the head men.

12:00 PM 319 Akron +19½
320 Toledo -19½

12:00 PM 329 Massachusetts +1½
330 Florida International -1½

12:00 PM 331 UL Monroe +26½
332 Florida State -26½

This game was initially cancelled due to the hurricanes, but FSU asked ULM to re-schedule for championship week so that the Noles could try to make a bowl game. Will this be big Jimbo's farewell?

12:30 PM 333 TCU +6½
334 Oklahoma -6½

I bet the Big-12 is regretting this decision. Oklahoma gains basically nothing with a win, (they're already in the playoffs and they probably don't even want the 1 seed) and TCU is drawing nearly dead to get in if they pull the upset. (Though OU might still have a shot). Both teams beat Oklahoma State and the rest of the B12 slate and lost to Iowa State, and will have a marquee win against the other if TCU wins, but Oklahoma's win over Ohio State looms much larger than TCU's over Arkansas.

A good matchup to watch will be Matt Boesen trying to take down Baker Mayfield. Boesen is 4th in the nation in Sacks, with 11.5, with a staggering 5.5 of those coming in the last game against Baylor.

Oklahoma's offense is out of control, leading the nation with 8.6 yards per play. They've cracked double digits FOUR times this season, most recently on Saturday against WVU where they averaged 12YPP.

2:00 PM 305 Idaho 4
306 Georgia State -4

2:30 PM 307 UL Lafayette +14½
308 Appalachian State -14½

4:00 PM 321 Georgia 2
322 Auburn -2

These two teams have never met in the SECCG, and we'll see whether Auburn's blowout of UGA was a perfect storm of runbad for the Bulldogs or a harbinger of things to come. A true quarterfinal, the winner is guaranteed to be in the playoffs and the loser is guaranteed to be watching from home.

4:30 PM 313 South Alabama 10
314 New Mexico State -10

7:30 PM 311 Troy +1½
312 Arkansas State -1½

7:45 PM 323 Fresno State +9½
324 Boise State -9½

The other games are rematches, but this is a *back to back* rematch, as Fresno edged Boise two days ago. That feels super dumb. In retrospect, given that the AAC winner is guaranteed the P5 bid, it would've been a good opportunity for both of these teams to play their seniors and second string. Also, let's take a moment to appreciate the work Jeff Tedford has done at Fresno, and laugh at the fact that Bulldogs, rather than the Seminoles, are Alabama's marquee OOC win.

8:00 PM 325 Miami Florida +9½
326 Clemson -9½

Almost certainly another de-facto quarterfinal game. The winner is all but assured a spot, while the loser is almost guaranteed to be out of it. Technically, Clemson would have a shot to go over Ohio State, but the committee putting in a non-champion second ACC team over a B1G champion with the same number of losses would be pretty bold. (Though correct, I'd argue... both would have one horribly embarrassing road loss and one loss to a playoff team, but Clemson's wins > Ohio State's wins)

8:00 PM 327 Ohio State -6
328 Wisconsin 6

The haters' ball of the century. OSU has generated a lot of ill will for perceived favoritism from the committee, while Wisconsin has generated a lot of ill will for playing a MAC schedule this year. Also, here's a fun fact from The Athletic: Saturday was the first time in the history of the OSU/Michigan rivalry that OSU overcame a 14 point deficit to win.

Also, as a PSA, betonline posted Bama as +1200 to win the title. I've already maxed out (they are +425 on bovada), but that's there for the taking if anyone else wants it!

After evenly discounting the 19% juice across all bets, Bovada and (Betonline) title odds are as follows:

Oklahoma 17% (19%)
TCU 1% (1%)

Auburn 16% (22%)
Georgia 11% (8%)

Ohio State 11% (11%)
Wisconsin 8% (7%)

Clemson 16% (19%)
Miami 5% (8%)

Hey GoldenBears, remember when you said this?

Quote:
Auburn controls their own destiny in the same sense that you and I control whether or not we become billionaires. It's technically possible, but incredibly difficult. With just a 1-2 record against top-40 teams, Auburn must now beat Georgia, upset Alabama, then beat Georgia again in the SECCG to get in to the playoffs

nice, that's nice.

Got to love the "both teams lost to the 7th place team in a 10 team league" conference championship game.

If my math is correct, that means you have made nearly $150,000 in the last few weeks.

Fair play to you.

If we were restricted to Bovada lines, Clemson looks like the best best to me.

Bret Bieliema leaves Wisconsin for Arkansas
Gary Andersen leaves Wisconsin for Oregon State

Wisconsin, one win away from the playoffs.

who's so crazy at wisconsin that coaches just say **** this pretty stable secure program and leave for a lower program?

As opposed to the championship game where the teams lost to the 10th and 13th place teams.

Do you need the OOC in this clause? Bama's schedule was poor even by SEC standards.

I mean, about the only time I've really been impressed with Scarlett's running was that last drive against Cal (the Shawest of Shawball). Also, it's hard to argue that OL accounts for more than about 10-15 yards of a given run. Elite speed and making the last 1-2 DBs miss is necessary for the rest of all his biggies. I can't say I'm sure it'll translate to the NFL, or that he deserves a Heisman outside of Mayfield tripping over his own dick in a huge way Saturday, but it's not like anyone other than Love has been putting up 50+ yard TD runs behind the same OL.

Way I see it, SECCG and ACCCG are play-ins...

It only starts getting interesting if tOSU and TCU win their conference championship games, it potentially puts Alabama back in play
