Houston Nutt did this at Arkansas about 4 different times. Either to take the heat off of himself in bad seasons or to get a contract extension after a good season.

Gruden is linked to every job opening because he has an insane amount of connections.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't make $3.2 mil for MNF but for damn sure he doesn't have to do 14-18 hour work days 6-7 days a week on MNF like he would as a coach.

Gruden, Nutt, Spurrier are three of the guys that are 'candidates' for just about every job that opens. They just have good/busy agents.

edit: Unsurprisingly a quick google search shows Spurrier and Nutt share the same agent, Jimmy Sexton.

Based on a quick search it looks like Gruden was extended with the Bucs in 2008 through 2011, and he was making $4.3 per year at that time. So his MNF + Bucs deal is prob right aroung that $3.2 area.

Looks like a moot point aorn anyway.
