Paterno doesn't retire.

Paterno also can't die, since he's already dead. He won't stop coaching until Jake Weber drops a 9mm into his brain, which is the only way to stop a zombie.

Conspiracy theory of UM's retirement. He wanted to last year but the AD talked him out of it. Normally that AD always has someone lined up but not last year. So he talked him into one more year of coaching. Fla was bad this year because Urban knew he'd be on his way out.

They were bad because they were bad. Not because he knew he'd be out. They lost their playmakers and their play-calling stubbornly tried to treat brantley as tebow.

WTF, Bo Pelini asked Tom Osborne's permission to interview for the Miami job. That's pretty shocking to me, I figured Pelini was staying put unless an uber-job opened up. Guess he got tired of babysitting Taylor Martinez.

Haven't seen anything confirmed on that yet, but if it's true there's gotta be some serious behind the scenes stuff going on at NU. That program is already good and is about to take a pretty big step up in visibility.

Miami Herald claims he's already been granted permission to interview.

One theory behind this is he might want to come to Ohio State and leaving Nebraska for that job would be a lot harder than leaving Miami. He's always been in the discussion for who to replace Tressel with when he retires. Entirely random speculation, of course.

That makes no sense whatsoever. More likely is that he got his fweelings hurt when the Nebraska AD yelled at him for being an ass to the refs

Just heard on one of the national radio shows that Meyer is going to stay at Florida in some capacity. If that is the case, that will probably kill their chances of hiring anyone outside of Mullen and Strong. A big name coach isn't going to walk into a situation where Meyer is hanging around.

If he wants to coach at Ohio State, with Nebraska being in the same conference, it would be harder to switch. He played for Ohio State, so the talk has been going on since he got hired at Nebraska.

But of course not getting along with the AD will factor in as well.

Tom Osborne yelling? Does not compute.

How much does Nebraska pay him? Would Miami pay more?

Tressel is going to be at OSU for a long time.

What do you define as a long time? He has something in his contract about moving to an AD job in 4 years when his contract expires. He's 58 now. I don't see him coaching more than 7 more years, and certainly not more than 10.

Look at Vandy stepping up.

http://blogs.tennessean.com/vanderbi...alzahn-passes/

John Ingram has apparently promised Malzahn the world. Facility upgrades, competitive assistant coaches pay, 3 mil per year plus bonuses for Malzahn. Even though it is Vandy, that is a lot of money to turn down.
