James Franklin already has a commit. Hasn't even been employed 12 hours.

A guy previously committed to Vanderbilt.

Not exactly something to brag about.

I was just surprised by the speed. PSU fans aren't used to this. I figured he would tuck his family in at night and get ready for a big Monday.

Lawnmower flying in low enough orbit for Internet access.

Franklin has been trying his hardest over the last week to get everyone at Vandy to hate him:

1) Stringing Vandy along for days after having made his decision
2) Lying to the AD and at least one player about having signed with Penn St
3) Now flipping commits during a recruiting dead period

No, you were just really excited that Franklin clearly used the time he was still employed by Vanderbilt to get recruits to flip to Penn St (during a dead period, no less). Stay classy.

Fans that get mad about stuff like this need a big cup of grow up. Coaches can't be honest in these spots and it should be obvious why. It's really just a question of how artfully dishonest they can be.

They can't be honest about having already accepted a job with Penn State?

Franklin specifically told the AD and at least one player that he hadn't made up his mind when he already signed a contract.

He may have signed something agreeing to be the Penn St coach contingent on receiving a contract offer that meets his terms but I don't think he had actually signed his employment contract. Wasn't Penn St still going through the red tape to get their contract offer approved by their regulators well after news publicly broke that he was the new PSU coach? So if the regulators reject it for some reason Franklin isn't PSU coach.

Let it go, BigPoppa.

I mean players commit to coaches as much as they commit to programs

It's quite possible that he didn't really have to do much to get them to PSU.

lol cleve

Citing conversations with people around the league, NFL Network's Albert Breer says the feeling is the Browns' head-coaching job is viewed as "radioactive."
"Tough spot for them," added Breer of the Browns, who were quickly spurned by Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. The Browns have an alleged-criminal owner and kicked Rob Chudzinski aside after one year on the job, also letting outstanding coordinators Ray Horton and Norv Turner leave without a fight. There is no franchise quarterback or running back on the roster. It's not surprising coaches around the league aren't lining up to coach Cleveland.

LOL @ using average. So if Vandy also beat #241, they would be somehow worse.

I know the Browns suck, but they at least aren't at college level yet.

Charlie Strong's new hires at Texas this week:

Defense/Special teams

Defensive coordinator (Louisville defensive coordinator Vance Bedford)
Defensive line (Alabama defensive line coach Chris Rumph)
Linebackers (Louisville linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary)
Cornerbacks (Memphis cornerback coach Chris Vaughn
S&C: Lousville's Pat Moorer

Offense

Offensive Coordinator ??
Running backs (USC running backs coach Tommie Robinson)
Offensive line (maybe run game coordinator)- (Oklahoma State offensive line coach Joe Wickline)
QB Coach - Lousville's OC, Shawn Watson

Very happy with the staff so far, especially Wickline. Remains to be seen on the OC front but glad it wasn't Watson. Seems odd that Watson took a demotion to become the QB coach.
