It's incredible how many highly rated 5 star recruit QBs end up sucking. Don't think any other position at any other sport produces as many recruiting rankings misses as QBs.

It's like the most unevenly applied rule, like half the time it's where they land. Hate to call for more replay, but I do think a quick "where did they start the slide" replay ruling would be an improvement.

This season is going to be crazy. The chances of a two loss team making the playoffs have to be extremely high.

Man, looking at Florida States schedule, seems like they have a great chance to playoff. Not a whole lot to worry about on that schedule.

At least not until the ACCCG . Haha

If they survive at Clemson, I can definitely see them being undefeated heading into the ACCCG.

@UF is always a wildcard too, even if it looks like UF sucks.

The SEC FCS week is famously the penultimate week of the regular season. Y'all all get pissed about that every year

Good lord the ACC, if Drake Maye had left then FSU might as well be in the Sun Belt. But hey, we're adding 3 more teams who will rarely be ranked so that's good! Gonna need to schedule 3 historical powers OOC instead of 2 just to have a non AIDS schedule.

Dunno, I think FSU's playoff chances actually go down with Clempson Clempsoning. Before, they could probably afford 1 loss and still get in, but now they might have to go perfect, especially if LSU ends up in like the 15-25th ranked range. That could conceivably be FSU's only ranked win (until possibly UNC in the ACCCG)

Absolutely stacked week 2:

Sep 8 Fri 2023
7:30 PM
Illinois 3
Kansas -3

No Thursday night games this week bc of NFL kickoff, I assume. Illinois got lucky to barely beat Toledo which isn't great but isn't that embarrassing, at least they're the clear MAC favorites. Kansas is a Big-12 dark horse after bowling last year, although Jaylon Daniels missed game 1 with an injury.

Sep 9 Sat 2023
11:00 AM
Vanderbilt +10½
Wake Forest -10½

Will the mighty ACC improve to 3-0 against the pitiful SEC??

12:00 PM
Notre Dame -7½
NC State +7½

ND State dismantled Navy and Tennessee State and looks great with Hartman at the helm. NC State looked just ok beating an improved but still bad UConn team. (The only OOC road win for the SEC, ACC, B1G and Big-12 combined so far this season)

12:00 PM
Ball State 43
Georgia -43

12:00 PM
James Madison -7
Virginia 7
Yikes.

12:00 PM
Purdue 3
Virginia Tech -3
Double yikes.

12:00 PM
Nebraska 3
Colorado -3

You will hear enough about this game without me telling you what's happening here

12:00 PM
Utah -7
Baylor 7

Can Baylor bounce back from the Tx State loss? Can Utah build on the Florida win? Will Cam Rising play?

12:00 PM
Troy 16
Kansas State -16

Sneaky good game, Troy is the SBC co-favorite. KSU is a dark horse contender for everything.

3:30 PM
Western Michigan +23½
Syracuse -23½

3:30 PM
Miami Ohio -7
Massachusetts 7

3:30 PM
UNLV +36½
Michigan -36½
Lol, this absolute joke of a schedule. Michigan should be embarrassed.

3:30 PM
Texas A&M -4
Miami Florida 4

Somebody is definitely BACK after they win this game. (Although can ATM really be BACK if they've never actually been THERE? Recruiting rankings don't count)

3:30 PM
Iowa -4
Iowa State 4

If Iowa State scores 25, they win

3:30 PM
Texas State +12½
UTSA -12½

UTSA outgained Houston, but still lost a nail biter. Texas State pressed ctrl-C ctrl-V on Incarnate Word's offense, and that was good enough to upset Baylor

3:30 PM
Mississippi -7
Tulane 7

Tulane is probably the best G5 team this year

3:30 PM
UTEP -1½
Northwestern +1½
Triple infinity yikes

4:00 PM
Marshall -3
East Carolina 3

4:00 PM
Kent State +37½
Arkansas -37½

5:00 PM
Tulsa +34½
Washington -34½

5:15 PM
Appalachian State +17½
North Carolina -17½
Rematch of one of last year's best games. This line ballooned after UNC impressed in week 1 and Appy... did not.

6:00 PM
SMU +16½
Oklahoma -16½

Is Oklahoma actually a title contender? Is SMU the AAC favorite and best G5 team rather than Tulane? Can they announce their arrival to the big leagues a year early?

6:00 PM
New Mexico State +10½
Liberty -10½

6:00 PM
UAB +6½
Georgia Southern -6½

6:00 PM
UL Lafayette -6½
Old Dominion +6½

6:30 PM
Cincinnati +7½
Pittsburgh -7½

Nice little ACC-Big-12 matchup here between two former Big East teams

6:30 PM
North Texas -13
Florida International 13

7:00 PM
Middle Tennessee State 21
Missouri -21

7:00 PM
Houston -9
Rice 9

7:00 PM
Oregon -7
Texas Tech 7

Line didn't move much despite Tech's loss at Wyoming.

7:00 PM
Jacksonville State 13
Coastal Carolina -13

7:00 PM
Connecticut 3
Georgia State -3

7:00 PM
Memphis -21½
Arkansas State +21½

7:00 PM
Central Florida -3½
Boise State +3½

This line implies that UCF is a Big-12 contender. Hard to know what to make of each team's week 1 performance. Will learn a lot here about both these teams (and Washington!)

7:00 PM
Texas 7
Alabama -7

Here you go!

7:30 PM
UCLA -13
San Diego State 13

7:30 PM
Wisconsin -6½
Washington State +6½

Wisconsin looks for revenge from their loss to Wazzu last year. Wazzu has the winds of justice in their sails, however.

7:30 PM
Eastern Michigan +20½
Minnesota -20½

7:30 PM
Arizona 10
Mississippi State -10

7:30 PM
Temple +9½
Rutgers -9½

7:30 PM
Charlotte 25
Maryland -25

8:00 PM
Air Force -14½
Sam Houston St +14½

8:30 PM
Southern Miss 30
Florida State -30

10:30 PM
Oklahoma State -3½
Arizona State +3½

After 1 week, ASU looks like probably the worst Pac-12 team, and Ok State certainly didn't light the world on fire either. One will bounce back, one will start to have some real concerns.

10:30 PM
Stanford 29
USC -29

10:30 PM
Auburn -6½
California +6½

I'm glad this game kicks off so late, so I can enjoy Cal being undefeated for as long as possible

most unlikley win expectancy outcomes:

Minnesota 5.7% against Nebraska (so sorry, corn fans)
Wyoming 18% against Texas Tech (explains why the Oregon line hasn't moved much)
JVS 26% vs UTEP (explains a bit of the NW line)
Vandy 42% vs Hawaii
Houston 47% vs UTSA
Temple 48% vs Akron

every other game, the team that "played better" won

i might be the only person who watched the Texas-Rice game, Texas' offense looked putrid in the first half especially considering how many returning starters they had coming back. they finally got some drives going in the second half but that was mainly due to Rice's defense getting worn down from the 105 degree heat and their offense not being able to stay on the field. I would lean towards Bama -7 and the under if i was betting this game.
