Is that a lot or a little? Without a home and home agreement it’s completely standard for home team to pay the visitor

But according to SportingNews power ranking the #56 team went on the road and beat #55. So whatever

I'm not sure if it's a lot or a little. Fresno State is definitely the superior team, they supposedly returned a lot from a good team last year and their only real question was whether the transfer QB would fit in(spoiler alert - he's good). It's more just embarrassing that you paid a mid major to come hand you an L, regardless of whether they are the better team or not(which again Fresno is most certainly the better team).

It’s not really a lot and it’s not embarrassing. They weren’t getting paid to come in and take the L. They got a standard (and in this case relatively low) payment to compensate them for expenses and using up one of their three non conference games on the road.

Sometimes Group of 5 teams beat Power 5s. Especially the better ones versus middle of road Power 5s.

It most definitely is embarrassing for Purdue to pay Fresno State to come beat them. Really no other way to slice it. Losing any buy game is the "epitome of brutality" as Jon Rothstein puts it.

announced attendance 54,898
that cost is under $25 for each of them
probably cheaper than a parking pass

In the year of the "Bush Push" Fresno State actually did better against the Trojans. The qb threw 4 INTs and the bulldogs still had leads at halftime and the 4th quarter.

'the qb' you reference prefers 'super bowl champion' as his pro bowl nouns

Losing close is not doing "better" than winning.

Lol yes there is, let me clear it up to you and then you can clear it up with Twitter should you desire

Purdue paid them the money for the ability to have the home game. Mission accomplished, they got it.

The reason why most teams win when they pay is because usually the money doesn’t work out the other way. For example, Auburn paid UMass 1.9M. But UMass couldn’t pay enough to make it worth it to Auburn.

So this confuses people and makes them say stuff like “they paid x team $ to come and beat them.” No, they paid x team for the home game, and compensated x team for the loss of theirs

Well, you are the infamous ScotchonDaRocks, so I'm sure you're smarter than me. I'll take your word for it that a B1G program paying a mid major to come embarrass them on their home field isn't Ack-shul-ly embarrassing.

Please tell me this isn't one of those deals where it says the game starts at 8:30 but really it's 8:55.

It's 2:30 AM here

ABC, please turn Kirk's headset 90* so one of those big earpieces is over his mouth. Bonus points if it covers his nose enough to impair his breathing.

k Thanks!
