fun trivia (actually probably not):

on the infamous "5th down" play when Colorado beat Missouri in 1990, the BUFFS actually had to come back on the field roughly 10 minutes after the game for the PAT. that's cuz the Missouri HC requested it after the smoke cleared. So the BUFFS took a knee and that was officially game over.

Thankfully the rules have been updated since then so the team scoring the late TD doesn't have to try the PAT unless they need it to win or tie. Kudos to Neil Brown for at least trying to fool the refs I guess.

Why take a knee when you can run it into the middle of the line tho?

Being a fan of sports in general and gambling on sports has been such a huge net positive in my life, but man, being a fan of specific teams has been such a huge negative.

My first conscious sports memory is WV returning the opening kickoff for a TD against Florida in the 1994 Sugar Bowl, then losing 41-7. In the next 29 years, there were 4 seasons that ended happily, and maybe 4-5 basketball seasons which were great too.

Cal fandom is just pure misery. I was a Freshman in 2004 which was bittersweet - we finished 10-2 and ranked #4, but got screwed out of our first rose bowl in 50+ years by mack brown and his POS brother, and then lost to texas tech in the holiday bowl that nobody wanted to be at. But at least there was hope - when the old Cal fans said they hoped they'd live long enough to see Cal in the Rose Bowl, we laughed about it because we knew there were good things around the corner.

The next two seasons were more of the same dashed hopes, peaking in the top-10 before backsliding, but at least winning our bowl games.

In 2007, we were briefly #1 (ranked #2 then #1 lost) before losing to Oregon State and starting an epic backslide, losing six of seven

And just sixteen years of pain since, never losing fewer than 5 games, rarely pulling any upsets, and just getting pummeled, then watching the entire conference fall apart and realize that we are actually all going to die without seeing Cal in the rose bowl. Basketball's been just as bad, winning TWO tournament games in 20 years (although I at least have some hope that Mad Dog can restore us to respectability)

Then the cruelest joke is going to Grad School and watching them win 2 Rose Bowls, which would've been great if it were any school except our bitter sports rival, lol.

Then, tried to overcome this by bandwagoning whoever was the Pac-12 front runner, which has then also been pure misery. Then finally the Pac-12 is actually good, but the conference is falling apart! I guess I can bandwagon UNC this year or something????

Does not compute.

Might I suggest bandwagoning Georgia? That way if they plunge into a miserable stretch you’ll know it’s you!

Personally I was born into the Alabama side of the family. It was “rough going” there for a while but A) not liking how the way Saban operated pre-portal occasionally royally screwed over some kid and B) no longer seeing players actually from the state or who care about the rivalries, have made the old “mediocrity” a fond memory.

I haven't seen them play and won't do so but I'm sure they're beat any pac12 team except maybe usc

Well they lost a tight one on road to Wash State. But they are not garbage obviously in any context.

When bad Big12 teams battle each other (which is entire conference except for two leaving) it’s “wild fun!” though

Memphis has made the questionable decision to play a punt returner who is slow and likes to run sideways and a bit backwards. It's certainly bold!

Quite a quarterback battle though; Hennigan can't seem to throw the ball even near any receivers at any distance while Pratt looks like he's *specifically* trying to throw a pick 6 (3 db drops so far).

Henegin's receivers lead a touchdown drive. He's now 4 of 15 but ahead of Pratt on yards. Pratt's a stunning 10 of 19 for 91 yards.

I dunno about this Tulane strategy of not covering receivers at all, seems like it's not working so well.

I mean it's actually a pretty good bet Henegin will just miss them by 5 yards anyway

But yeah, lol at the idea this is a good secondary

Took Memphis +550 1st half when they were down 7 with Tulane in the red zone. Can't believe *that one* is about to pay off!

Wow, Memphis' star WR just volleyballed it to the db at the sideline. Not even Henegin's fault.
