He made my skin crawl with this, you can politely say no to a stupid question. No need to say your skin was crawling or the guy is speaking Japanese.

If he wants to level up he should try winning a big game for once

Probably should have run the clock down and then actually run a play trying to score instead of trusting your kicker...

Italian is like what they used to say about 7 card stud, it is very easy to be a very mediocre stud player.

granted there were only 10 teams in some of those years. It is probably hard to have any set of five teams that were ranked together that often.

On Fanduel you can get UK +2.5 @ Louisville right now (SP+ would suggest +6.5, so Vegas is pretty significantly downgrading Louisville relative to SP+. They've been ~3 points worse than SP+ the last four weeks in their ratings)

There are 11 title contenders (> 4% odds) which is pretty insane, and then a long tail of teams that are like 300-1 where they're technically live, but probably aren't good enough to win all the games they need to win.

Getting increasingly unlikely that a 1-loss non champ will get in this year

A lot of the conference races are super chaotic because the top teams don't play each other

In the ACC it's FSU, UNC, Miami, Duke Louisville and Clemson with an outside shot
FSU plays Miami and Duke (and beat Clemson) but not Louisville or UNC
UNC plays Miami, Duke and Clemson but not Louisville or FSU
Miami plays everybody but Duke
Duke beat Clemson and plays everybody but Miami
and of course Louisville somehow skips FSU, UNC and Clemson!

So some totally plausible scenarios where you end up with three one-loss teams, or something like undefeated FSU and three or four way tie for second with everybody having 2 losses and some crazy tiebreaker

The Pac-12 is going to be a bloodbath, as usual. Washington, Oregon, USC and Utah all play each other.

The AAC is also going be crazy, somehow the top teams all manage to completely dodge each other. The top teams are Tulane, SMU, Memphis and UTSA
SMU plays only Memphis and dodges Tulane and UTSA
UTSA plays Tulane and dodges SMU and Memphis
Tulane and Memphis play each other and Memphis/SMU but dodge SMU/Memphis

Big-12 lots of teams miss other teams, but I don't think it'll be too crazy since Oklahoma and Texas are a cut above, and all the contenders play at least one of the two
K-State and Texas Tech play Texas but not OU
WVU and Ok State play OU but not Texas
Kansas plays both (and already lost to Texas)

Gonna be really, really tough for anybody but UGA to win the SEC east
West looks like Bama, as they've already beaten Ole Miss and ATM h2h, but they still have to play LSU and if they lose could end up with lots of goofy ties

B1G is straightforward, some garbage team (probably Wisconsin) from the West, and then the Ohio State / Penn State / Michigan round robin in the East. Michigan is still the plurality favorite from that trio since PSU is regarded as a few points worse and Michigan gets OSU at home, and Michigan has the easiest B1G sched of the 3 and is least likely to lose another B1G game (although if they all go 11-1, Michigan will likely lose the tiebreak)

Wisconsin is 23 in FPI, next up is Iowa at 35 but they are probably not as good as that in their current state. Iowa lost their QB and the last time I heard a couple of RBs too. That sort of loss would hurt any team so they are going to struggle and have to grind up ugly wins.

So Wisc seems to be a clear cut above the rest. They obviously aren’t elite though and the survivor of the East should be able to handle them with possible playoff bid on the line. But it’s a neutral site against a relatively capable opponent so nothing can be taken for granted

This is the same FPI that rates Wisconsin above Washington St and a 2 loss Notre Dame 9 higher than an unbeaten Louisville that just beat them head to head. Does anyone feel that whichever of PSU/OSU/Michigan wins the East wouldn't be at least a 2 TD favorite over whoever wins the West?

In the context of the national title conversion, where every other contender will be facing an elite team in the title game because they dropped divisions, Wisconsin is garbage.

In any other reasonable, objective sense, they're fine and decent.

I doubt you are going to find much that would have them outside the top 30. So if they were 23 we would be swooning over them but at 29 they would be garbage?

But I knew we had some FPI guys on here so thought it was safe ground

I have no idea what spread would be but whoever makes it through the East is quite a good squad. What would Washington be favored by over a team like Utah?

The rest of KU's season is going to be wildly fun. They get the 3 best opponents at home and the 3 weaker ones on the road. All the games are close to coinflips:

@ OK State 59%
v Oklahoma 33%
@ Iowa State 54%
v Texas Tech 52%
v K State 50%
@ Cincinnati 52%

Personally I draw the line at 23, 24 and below are garbage

Big 12 are two teams that will be in SEC next year and a trash heap. No one of them would be favorites in that B1G West

I’m just having a bit of fun but you guys make it easy
