Make sure to talk to your children about Kentucky football being ranked in the preseason. Might be hard for them to understand.

Poor mizzou and vandy are the only sec teams to not receive any votes. Does that technically make them dark horses?

A dark horse is a previously less known person or thing that emerges to prominence in a situation, especially in a competition involving multiple rivals, or a contestant that on paper should be unlikely to succeed but yet still might.

The very important mention of men's/ women's college soccer gets a pass. Cool. I'll head back to the darts thread to talk about Pedro Martinez.

chuck and i shoot the **** regarding cbb, was giving UK a tip of the cap for also becoming a factor in another college sport. was harmless until you tried to make it into something

I'm done with it, after this. Bringing up soccer in a real sports thread, or even just being aware of when mens soccer season is deserves clowning unless you have a younger relative getting recruited by pro Euro teams. lol at this as a quarter of the NCAA playoff bracket.

Defense will take a huge step back especially in the bigger matchups. Having 2 Edge players that an offense has to account for means that any throwing situation is way harder. We won't have that this year.

Offensively though, so much of the talent is back from last year. 3/5 offensive linemen from probably the best non-SEC Offensive line in the country, plus a SR Transfer at Center that was a national award finalist last year. Both the high floor and high ceiling QB return as well as basically every skill player except Haskins.

I just don't think they have the top end talent to compete with Alabama/Georgia, but I think there's still a good sized gap between them and everyone on their schedule until Ohio St.
This. Michigan has the most fully loaded offense I've seen since the Lloyd Carr days. And we have probably the easiest schedule since I've been watching (1988).

Who cares if the defense is gonna drop off. People are forgetting that we have two very good QBs who were both basically rookies last year. Given how valuable the QB position is, any significant improvement there--which should be expected--can more than make up for big losses on defense.

Anyone who thinks Michigan isn't gonna make another run this year isn't following the team. Michigan is better than last year with a super easy schedule. We're gonna be 11-0 heading into the Ohio State game. We might make the playoffs regardless of that outcome.

This should be the best Michigan team since 2006 but it goes without saying that doesn't mean much since Ohio St/Bama/Georgia are so far ahead of everyone else. It sux that college football is so broken like that. Hopefully NIL can make it where the power concentrates into 10 teams instead of 3.

I'm a long-time Gator fan and have been to 30+ games at the swamp. I've also been to the old Orange Bowl and the newer Hard Rock Stadium to see Canes games or Bowl games. Also one Colorado game in Boulder, one Air Force game in Co Springs, and one Tennessee game in Knoxville.

Beginning this year I'm fixing my college stadium deficiencies with a trip to Madison to watch the Badgers. I plan to add a new stadium each year.

Outside of the obvious choices in the Big 10 and SEC, who should I be thinking about? Clemson, Notre Dame are on the list. Army-Navy would be a dream.

Please add some other destinations worth considering.

I've been to Camp Randall multiple times. Great place to watch a game, but Badgers fans are absolute pricks.

I think outside of Big 10/SEC I would most want to go to:

Texas
Oklahoma
Okie State
Oregon
Boise State

eww. Washington is probably the best on the West Coast.

If you hit Texas, game time and seating is very important so you don't sweat off 10lbs baking in the top east facing bleachers in the September heat. Hit me up for a tailgate Gram or anyone else makes it down to a game.

Well you might try catching Florida @ Auburn in 2024. The eagle fly-in is awesome and it’s a great crowd, especially in a close game.

Texas A&M but don't admit that online.

It's always been garbage teams like Texas Aggie from 5 teams declaring themselves National Champs each season. To the 2008 BCS where UT beat Okie at neutral site with both teams having the same record, but OU somehow getting the nod. To now national champ teams having to get 15 games of concussions a year.

What is the order of best ranking system? AP declaring top dog> Condoleeza Rice declaring toptop> all the other BS.

The 1997 shared championship is the most outrageous decision in sporting history. Michigan always the media darlings, no matter how undeserved.

Futures bets I'm looking at this year:

Pitt Under 8.5 wins -105
I think last year was a massive overachievement. Slovis showed some talent early in his USC Career but never really improved and I don't think is good enough to take a mediocre roster to 9+ wins. Narduzzi is still a really dumb and bad coach and will probably cost this team a close game at some point.

Georgia to make Playoff -115
Team is loaded with talent everywhere, Bennett knows how to operate the offense and not make mistakes, schedule is a cake walk if they get through Oregon and they have enough name cachet to survive 1 loss and still get in (Maybe even 2 if one is a close loss to Bama)

Oklahoma Over 8.5 Wins -180
They still recruit great with the 4th best Blue Chip Ratio in the country at 71%. Gabriel is a great college QB and keeps his same OC from UCF in his new home.

Michigan to win B1G +750
Offense should be even better than last year, defense will be worse, but I don't think last year was a "Everything comes together for one year only" type of fluke. @OSU will probably be a must-win for the division and not a great spot, but even with 1 conf loss that's probably a win and in for the Champ game. Worth it for the price.

Based on the rules of the game Nebraska lost to Missouri bro. Everyone knows if Osborne didn't retire Nebraska deservedly gets no share.

Actually everyone outside of Michigan grads know that if it was any team not named Michigan in the equivalent situation they get no share.

Always love the rules of the game claim (except forgetting the rule where 45 points is more than 38).
