So his argument is:
Football season = players will be responsible
No football season = players will be irresponsible and spread it more

Do you understand his argument? He's not saying playing football is safe and nobody will get COVID, he's saying it's *safer* than the alternative. Which probably isn't true, but again is way less insane than anything these useless administrators are arguing.

Ah yes, Trump voters - a group famous for their ability to accept responsibility for the consequences of their own actions.

Obviously 0% of them are going to understand that this is because they voted for Trump and refuse to wear masks or distance, and will instead blame the media (who will now have no jobs without college football) for perpetuating a hoax on behalf of Bill Gates

If kids are already going to physical classrooms then playing football really doesn’t represent much more of a risk than they are already taking.
Lots of schools are already or will cancel in person learning for the year for some, most or all of their students.

Also, to me it is somewhat about having a group of 100 people in constant close contact with one another, but also a lot about having groups of 200+ people traveling from city to city every single weekend in a gigantic network all across the country. It's a lot of travel, especially to/from small college towns that probably don't have high rates of COVID but also don't have the infrastructure to deal with an outbreak if one hits.

"Michigan's Jim Harbaugh advocates for fall football, cites 'facts'"

https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ll-cites-facts

If that isn't a perfect 2020 headline I don't know what is.

Is "facts" code for his $7.5M salary?

Harbaugh haters are hilarious. He's getting paid (minus 10% so far iirc) regardless.

Not so much here in SEC/Trumpian country. Schools here are looking to keep charging tuition by keeping in-person classes available. If offered, you can’t actually force players to not attend them. Normal students as we all know. You also effectively can’t even keep players quarantined once classes begin.

Plus whatever 25% attendance and then the tailgaters. Much like the Sturgeon festival you can’t rightly stop these people (if you’re having games). Certainly not going to stop hotels and bars from trying to get them. 300 superspreader events (5x in every town) over 3 months seems like a poor plan from a public health perspective.

And I still feel like we’re all missing the obesity issue. These line guys are generally under a training regimen of “forced feeding” with weight goals in the 300s and BMIs in the 40s are not uncommon among them (however it is uncommon among Trevor Lawrence).

Another bonus to no football: We don't have to go through an inevitable 4-5 loss season enduring incessant hot takes on whether Harbaugh should be fired or not.

Interesting read, especially if the powers that be are really paying as much attention to it as they imply. Thanks.

All of the Big Integer is cancelling live lecture classes? So logically they are all closing their dormitories as well.

edit: Nope. But they think their students will self-quarantine for two weeks before school

Seeing some credible rumors Nebraska may play with Big 12 this year.

Do people really care about a season in which 75% of the teams don’t play?

If Alabama can claim a title from it, they care about it.

Big 10 officially cancels all Fall sports. 13/14 schools are going to have students on campus this Fall.

PAC cancelling too. ACC vowing to play and SEC saying their experts think it’ll be fine. I wanna say there’s another P5 conference but the name eludes me.

Yeah that’s the thing, if you’re going to have kids on campus then may as well let them play. I think Nebraska is going to push hard to have some kind of season as are several other schools Iowa/Mich/tOSU

There's a difference between having spaced out masked hybrid classes and having 70 guys spitting on each other at practice everyday and then traveling to a different city every saturday and huff/puff/spit on a different group of guys.

People at my work are calling them wusses for not playing etc. I just have to nod my head politely and try to change the topic.
