Do you understand his argument? He's not saying playing football is safe and nobody will get COVID, he's saying it's *safer* than the alternative. Which probably isn't true, but again is way less insane than anything these useless administrators are arguing.

Lots of schools are already or will cancel in person learning for the year for some, most or all of their students.


Also, to me it is somewhat about having a group of 100 people in constant close contact with one another, but also a lot about having groups of 200+ people traveling from city to city every single weekend in a gigantic network all across the country. It's a lot of travel, especially to/from small college towns that probably don't have high rates of COVID but also don't have the infrastructure to deal with an outbreak if one hits.

Not so much here in SEC/Trumpian country. Schools here are looking to keep charging tuition by keeping in-person classes available. If offered, you can’t actually force players to not attend them. Normal students as we all know. You also effectively can’t even keep players quarantined once classes begin.

Plus whatever 25% attendance and then the tailgaters. Much like the Sturgeon festival you can’t rightly stop these people (if you’re having games). Certainly not going to stop hotels and bars from trying to get them. 300 superspreader events (5x in every town) over 3 months seems like a poor plan from a public health perspective.

And I still feel like we’re all missing the obesity issue. These line guys are generally under a training regimen of “forced feeding” with weight goals in the 300s and BMIs in the 40s are not uncommon among them (however it is uncommon among Trevor Lawrence).

Another bonus to no football: We don't have to go through an inevitable 4-5 loss season enduring incessant hot takes on whether Harbaugh should be fired or not.

There's a difference between having spaced out masked hybrid classes and having 70 guys spitting on each other at practice everyday and then traveling to a different city every saturday and huff/puff/spit on a different group of guys.

People at my work are calling them wusses for not playing etc. I just have to nod my head politely and try to change the topic.

They basically would have to become infected in between tests and get huffin before the next test.
