Yeah college football is going to be a shitshow. Some teams will be blocked from playing by their state government, some teams will try to cobble together a schedule despite any medical common sense, and I'd say it's about 10% that a playoff and champion is actually crowned.

Texas A&M might serve their double secret probation with nothing to miss out on.

Not that this makes them unique, but UNC is like definitely cheating right?

January should be the worst time for this. It does look like if they go for it early on they have a short window anyway.

This....

I saw the ACC delaying to Sept 1st. Hoping for what? What difference could any of this make? COVID conditions/risks don't change until a vaccine.

NCAA/NFL/NHL/NBA.... this all seems like some charade of people pretending things are going to happen, all while knowing that they wont, and if they do, they will end up stopping....

Enjoy some golf, and maybe some baseball....maybe...

with all the big conferences announcing they are going to conference only schedules if they play, does that effectively eliminate non power 5 football this year? without those pay days i dont know how some of these schools can run a program.

Basically this. The entire idea of trying to have team sports but properly socially distanced is farcical.

Sean Doolittle said it best. "Sports are a reward for a well functioning society" and when it comes to this virus, we do not have one of those right now.

The only way team sports exists before a vaccine is if it is a very rare event that one of the competitors, coaches, training staff, referees gets the virus. Then you quarantine that team, contact trace, and wait for negative tests while reworking their schedule in a manner fair to all competitors.

This is damn near impossible to pull off for any major US team sport, and college football basically has to be the toughest task of all.

I don't think we're getting college football until there's a vaccine, and if that's a couple years away or longer, college football as we know it could look way different when it comes back.

I remember when they somehow landed Marvin Austin.

Like -10% chance that was at all legit.

Also if that’s the case, it will be interesting to see what happens with ND. Hopefully the conferences agree to **** them out of playing.

They would be so stuck up about how safe they are being and how irresponsible everyone else is for playing. It would be even more unbearable than it already is with that fan base

Well, if your goal is social distancing, you desperately want to swap ND out for Rutgers.

So what do people think NCAA will do about eligibility?

I’m assuming they will grant everyone a year if they want it (so people can still leave early for the draft) and will just let everyone else keep their same status

At one point last year, Purdue had 19 straight TDs scored by freshmen. That has to be some sort of record, right? Future is bright.

The NFL merely requires 3 years removed from high school and so nothing the NCAA ever does or doesnt do affects draft eligibility.

Given the economic strain of COVID in other areas, I dont think schools will be willing to keep 115 football players on scholarship next fall and thus my guess is that kids will lose the year of play. Compared to what others have lost, its not a travesty.

Recieved a fun questionairre form the ASU Athletics Department about the 2020 Football Season to Season Ticket Holders.

They are really still thinking they will have fans in the stands when MLB can't do that, and EVERYONE is paid? I still think it is an extreme longshot to even play a game.

Here were a few highlights:

To what extent would you feel comfortable attending Sun Devil Football games with other fans this fall? *
-Extremely comfortable
-Somewhat comfortable
-Not comfortable
-Unsure

If any, what are your concerns about coming back into Sun Devil Stadium? (Please select all that apply.) *
-It feels unsafe to return to the stadium too early
-Public health regulations not being followed (e.g., government, CDC, WHO)
-Fans not adhering to social distancing protocols
-The stadium not being properly disinfected
-Availability of disinfecting materials or personal protective equipment
-Adjustment to new fan experience
-Requirement to wear a mask
-Having in-person interactions with others
-Sitting too close to other fans
-Ordering food
-Using common areas (restrooms, shops)
-I don't have any concerns
-Other (please specify)

What type of policies would make you more comfortable regarding your seats for the 2020 football season? (Please select all that apply.) *
-Require at least one seat to be open on either side between seats
-Require one vacant row in between each seating groups
-Increased cleaning and sanitization
-Only allow certain sections to be open
-Require ushers to ensure social distancing
-Require fans to wear masks or face coverings during the game
-Require 6 feet separation in the seating bowl from other groups of individuals
-I would not attend if social distancing significantly impacts the location of my seats
-Other (please specify)

If you are unable to attend the 2020 football season, would you be in favor of applying your purchase to the 2021 season? *
-Yes
-Yes, if incentivized
-No, I prefer to donate the funds to the Athletic Department
-No, I prefer a refund

^ that would be some first class university graft. Award a 1 million dollar contract to disinfect an outdoor stadium that gets 10 hours of triple digit sunlight a day; to protect the unmasked fans coming in from packed Mill Ave patios.

No there will never be a shortage of kids who will gladly take a full scholarship to play college sports and to have a chance to develop into a professional prospect.
