If my team can bring in a guy from another school and win a title the next year you bet your ass I want him on my team.
It's also ironic that Watson & Lawrence are from Georgia.

It's all fine and good to pick on UW, as they have sucked much of the past quarter century. What's often forgotten is that Don James had built UW into a great program that was dominating the Pac-10 and nationally relevant (claims to national titles in '84 & '91)... so dominant that the P-10 (spearheaded by USC & Stanford) began a witch hunt that resulted in probation & harsh sanctions that crippled the program and caused DJ to quit in protest. Here's one article that talks quite a bit about it:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rce-ncaas-hand

If they had been in the SEC, or probably any other conference, it's likely nothing would have happened to them. I remember reading about the start of the investigation, and in the same Los Angeles Times sports section was an article about 4 then-current USC football players that had carjacked some lady and then held her at gunpoint to make her withdraw money from an ATM.

Nick Saban wouldn't have even been a coach, nor the coach he became, if not for Don James. He's said so himself.

One of those elite teams has to win the SEC, and that someone is guaranteed a resume stocked with 9 and 10 win teams. It dawned on me when reading the Orange Bowl opponent rule. ND only goes if we're higher than SEC#3 i.e. we finished exactly 11-1. So it's (basically) structurally impossible for the SEC to miss the playoff and not get a 3rd NY6 berth.

That's pretty rich telling the state of Washington & the Pac that they could never fully appreciate the pageantry, history, and gravity of SEC football. As far as pageantry, the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade are the original pageants of American football. If by history you mean the conference of racial segregation whose dominance is built on being the region of literal slaves, then be proud... or something. I don't even know what was meant by gravity, given that it's a ****ing game, but then I wouldn't be surprised if most attendees of the fine institutions of higher learning that comprise the SEC don't know anything about gravity either.
TJs post was bad of course, but good lord this is rubbish. It must be nice to live in a country that wasnt unethically taken from and then cruelly built on the backs of others - which one do you live in?

Your “higher learning” comment makes it clear youve never researched the schools in the SEC. Youd obviously be surprised at what youd find. UW would generally be ranked the 5th best univ in the Pac12 while it would be 4th in the SEC. Per US News & World Report, the 6th highest rated Pac12 school Oregon would be 8th highest if in the SEC. Its almost as if such an enlightened fellow as yourself is ignorant of your subject matter - but that cant be.

That might be relevant if I went around shouting "America! **** yeah!"

The SEC has a huge demographic advantage (at least compared to the P12) and a history of oppressing that very demographic, which makes thumping one's chest and trashing other schools/states/regions for not appreciating the history and superiority of SEC football rather strange. OK, I'm done channeling Jimmy the Greek.

Oklahoma State could be sick next year

Chuba Hubbard is coming back for some reason, Spencer Sanders will be a soph now, they return 12/13 top tacklers, 3/5 linemen and all but 1 WR

Managable schedule, Oregon State, Tulsa and Western illinois at home. Should open 3-0 with a P5 victory.

at TCU will be tricky, then they catch Iowa State at home and should win @ Kansas.

Could easily be 3-0 going into @ OU, where they will be a dog.

Tech, @ Baylor (minus Rhule), v WV and @ KSU and they end with Texas at home.

Wow, Auburn started 13 seniors. Gonna be a rebuild for them

Cal will be interesting. Return the ENTIRE offense, which came on strong once Garbers came back, but replace a lot of the defense.

Louisville looks like they return 8/11 defensive starters and 9/11 on offense
They gon be good. Gotta play @ Clemson, @ ND and @ UVA. VT and FSU at home.

UNC brings back 10/11 on offense, 7/11 on defense
Dodges Clemson, Louisville and FSU. @UCF, @ UVA, @ Miami (lol), Auburn neutral, VT at home.

Virginia Tech appears to have ONE senior on their entire two-deep??
Also dodges Clemson and FSU. Penn State at home, UVA at home. Could be a good dark horse.

UCLA loses their linebackers, but not much else. That's the most replaceable position in CFB
Their noncon is cake, and their crossovers are @ Cal, @ Oregon State, Stanford and Wazzu so their two misses are Oregon and Washington.

It's their 3rd or so scandal lately. The Bucks don't get the Sparty treatment because they're too big to fail.
