Not if CFB borrows an idea from MLB and moves the entire season to Arizona

UT is calling and emailing me about renewing my season tickets. I'm holding off till I'm sure there's going to be a season. I emailed them asking if we get a refund if the season is canceled. They replied we partially refunded baseball and softball tickets, and then had 3 paragraphs of legalese saying maybe. I don't think I'm renewing till later.

The Eastside Catholic football team (alleged) gang rape story that was (allegedly) covered up by local media, police, DA, and school officials is finally coming out into the open.

One allegedly involved player just was denied admission to Stanford. (https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/...olice-records/)

Others rumored to be involved or present for the alleged crime are incoming freshmen at Cal and OSU (and a Juco.) UW also has an incoming freshman from the same school. They clearly believed he wasn't involved since they recruited him but not the other kids but they could have been wrong.

The OSU recruit's dad is a local radio sports personality and is all over anyone insinuating his son was involved.

I have no knowledge of whether he was involved just commenting that it was a rumor and that the family is trying to quash it.

Another wrinkle is that the #1 recruit in the 2021 class (according to 24/7) is a senior at that same school and was thought to be a heavy lean to OSU recently although UW had long been his favorite.

OSU clearly doesn't need the 2020 kid based on their depth and may want to take action for image purposes but would it hurt them with JTT?

Amazingly the incompetent local PDs couldn't figure out how to get the video from Snapchat even though practically the entire school saw it.

https://www.king5.com/article/news/f...8-c1423f287c9d

Seems to me that whoever filmed the snap and distributed it would be royally ****ed. The alleged rapists can attack the alleged victim's character and claim consent but what defense is their to child pornography?

I am firmly convinced that the NCAA are idiots, but that second thing seems entirely inconsistent with what I was seeing today, which was that it was communciated that there was no way college sports would happen without students on campus.

/shrug, don't care enough to look it up.

Yeah, the meeting with Mike Pence?

A direct quote from one of the conference commissioners was something along the lines of "the problem is, it opens us to a ton of liability since we haven't found a good nice way to say that students can't be here, but athletes can or have to be"

They're not even hiding that they want to do it, even though it's such bad strategy to reveal their intentions like this, however obvious it may be even when unstated

That sounds like a minor problem relative to keeping the athletes and AD staff safe.

I know nobody cares about Stanford but surprised this story isn't getting more attention nationally or that nobody on 2p2 cares. We are talking about an alleged gang rape involving four high school football players AND video taken of that incident (child porn) by a fifth high school football player that was then shared to hundreds, if not thousands, of high schoolers.

Maybe people outside of Washington don't understand who was allegedly involved? And that Eastside Catholic is the new powerhouse in Washington high school football (maybe not anymore) having won four of the last six 3A titles with the #1 recruit nationally for 2021 according to 24/7?

It would sting if OSU snagged 2 of the top 3 players in WA from UW. At this point, I expect them to get WR Egbuka, but I think (hope) DL JTT is still up in the air. DL Korey Foreman also de-committed from Clemson and it's thought USC is among his favorites now.

USC has rebounded with a strong class so far, and UO is building their typical strong class of recent years. UW should end up with a strong class as well, but they have a lot more uncertainty and fewer commits at the moment. This year's surprise so far (like ASU was last year) is Cal.

The longer term story is that the big 3 in P12 recruiting has shifted over the past decade from USC, UCLA & Stanford to USC, UO & UW.

The other big west coast story is QB JT Daniels from USC entering the portal.

From what I gather, there's a good chance he returns to USC, while the leaders may be LSU, Wash, Mich, Tenn & Stan.

Nationally, OSU is putting together a monster class.

USC’s rebound in recruiting is entirely due to Donte Williams moving over from Oregon (with a little assist from coronavirus making some West Coast recruits rethink leaving.)

It is really unfortunate that CP faded out right when the two biggest classes in the recent history of WA high school football were upcoming.

In an alternate universe UW puts together another 10 or 11 win season last year, CP is still here, and JTT and Egbuka or Franklin are committed.

Jimmy Lake can’t afford for this season to be canceled. He needs to show what his supposedly more aggressive program will look like and regain momentum or UW will fade again.

In an addendum to the Eastside Catholic gang rape story apparently some “prominent” EC football players also gang assaulted some dudes: https://twitter.com/showtimetate/sta...533367808?s=21

Unlike the gang rape story I hadn’t heard any rumblings about this so no idea if any of the D1 players or recruits were suspects.

I'd agree with that and hopefully the virus will help UW get JTT and some other WA/west coast stars.

It is very unfortunate, but it is what it is. Maybe if he could have gotten the offense (his specialty) working better last year (and in previous years), they would have won more games. Instead, he let seniority trump talent at WR, didn't stay with what was working, and called stupid wildcat and trick plays at the most critical times. They played lethargically against Stanford and Colorado, and the offense couldn't move the ball against bad defenses like Colorado, Oregon St., and the first half @ Arizona.

I'm not very optimistic about Egbuka, but am about JTT & Franklin, although they each may be a coin flip at this point. Franklin plays with Huard in 7v7, which can't hurt UW's chances. JTT has to weigh going to national champ contender that has churned out the Bosa Bros., among other DL... vs. UW that is his home state, where his massive contingent of friends & family can easily watch him play, the whole virus thing, and UW's long history with polynesians and Pacific islanders (incl. a couple DL this class and tons on the roster). It's also worth noting that while offensive players have reason to doubt UW's offensive struggles and a new OC (OTOH Huard will be there next year), but the defensive staff remains in place and it's the defense that was the bright spot and anchor under CP (as it was under DJ).

I tend to think you're right, that they need a fall season to be played, but then again it's Jimmy's rookie season as coach and the QB situation is very questionable this year, so I'm not sure what would be best.

Mack Brown doing work at UNC:

Grimes is the 12th ESPN 300 UNC commit in this class. And to think people laughed when Carolina hired Brown for a second run in Chapel Hill.

Ive pretty much accepted that there isn't going to be a season this year. Maybe they push it to January or something but can't even see that happening.

Sitting at #3 in 247's 2021 team rankings, that's insane.

Yeah Mack is loading up. That was his recruiting philosophy his first time around at UNC...get the best NC high school talent and then hit up the 757 area code.

The Clemson-UNC games are gonna be wars in the coming years.
