Yeah, between Garza and the way they're hitting the 3, it's going to be tough.

RJ is smooth. That 4th foul on Sharpe has been huge.

You look at UNC's schedule and, depending on how the Covid cancellations fall, UNC could be a .500 team. The talent isn't all that and Roy's help defense is a relic of the past. Disappointing.

K-State lost by double digits to an 0-3 D II team that went (16-16) last year. There might not be much gap in talent between the bottom half of D I and the top half of D II.

Askew, especially, is so bad. Plus, nobody can shoot so its your typical bad fit together on top of not being good.
Yep. Even last year after Evansville I thought UK would get it together by the end. At the end of the year UK was a 2-4 seed depending on the SEC tourney. I just don't see it this year.

We’ll be fine. Talent isn’t the problem, it’s Roy’s system. It takes time. I’ll never judge a UNC team by November/December performance, but sure, with COVID we may never get a chance to fully peak.

I saw a lot of encouraging things out there tonight. Yes, there are plenty of mistakes to fix, but they’re getting better.

There is also a reason that Roy has only ever won with experienced talent. And yes, his defense drives me insane at times, but it wasn’t that long ago we were in back to back nattys with the same system.

Unfortunately, I don’t see Roy winning a ship with a team of mostly freshman. Hell, it’s still pretty rare even though there have been some stout freshman teams in the past.

If some these guys stay another year or two, then we will be in business. We will see.

But I know you know this haha. You’re just more pessimistic at this point than me. And I don’t think we are big contenders or anything, albeit, I do think we are top 15 or so and anything can happen in March.

So the current standings of the B1G/ACC Challenge is B1G 6, COVID 3, ACC 1?

Haven't seen that many bricks since the last time I visited Newark. I know Stefanovich can shoot at Mackey but ffs can any other player on this roster make a 3?

Team is actually full of shooters despite the bad night. For like the 9th season in a row, though, nobody on the roster can dribble a basketball so whenever teams pressure Purdue, they struggle getting good looks. All of the good teams they destroyed last year play packline style defenses with very little ball pressure(MSU by 29, UVA by 29, Wisconsin by 19). Purdue does have a freshman named Jaden Ivey who actually has a decent handle so hopefully when he comes back it improves a little, but thats the trend with Purdue.

The worst. Mike everything is about me even though I try to make you think otherwise Krzyzewski.

Roy may frustrate us at times, but he would never quit on his guys.

Duke canceled their last non con game with Gardner Webb. K seems worried they may have lost that game.

EDIT: seems more likely hes worried about SOS having that game on the schedule with ACC being so down.

I love it! Shots fired by Alabama's head coach Nate Oats.

Quote:
Oats was asked on Thursday if he agrees with Coach K. He said he thinks Coach K would have a different opinion if 2-2 Duke hadn’t lost two nonconference games already.

“Do you think if Coach K hadn’t lost the two nonconference games at home he’d still be saying that?” Oats asked.

If K wants to shut down dook's season then go ahead and do it. Step off your soapbox and take actions if you feel so strongly about it.

Garza only played 5 minutes in the first half tonight because of foul trouble. Iowa went 3 of 15 from 3. They still put up 52 points in the half anyways lol. I'm not sure how anyone can defend them. Theyre loaded with skill everywhere.

Garza plus 3 40+% 3 point shooters in Bohannon, Weiskamp, and Frederick is a hell of an offensive combination

Nobody is going to stop Iowa, all you can hope to do is slow them down and outscore them.

Based mostly on watching the UNC game, you need to have a lot of beefy reinforcements up front so you can be physical with Garza without fouling everyone out, and longer athletic guards that can bother Iowa's less athletic shooters.

Dunno who fits those qualifications exactly, but unless you get lucky and hit a day where the shooting goes cold dunno how else you win.
