that was a fkd up graphic (it was reading right to left). Drake avoided the First Four game, so according to that graphic they were the fourth to last team in.

Why?

GA Tech got the best 8/9 draw of all the 8/9s

there is no way that is true considering loyola should be a 4 seed

only good part is not getting gonzaga, even syracuse got a way better draw

I know they don't have the schedule yet bc of COVID but do we know when they're expecting to announce the times?

Kenpom #9 a 8 seed and KP #10 a 9 seed.

Awful news for UNC. Whiskey's Four Factors and AdjT closely mirror UVa's. UVa has owned UNC for years. Place your wagering discs on Wisconsin in that first round match-up. Imo, Roy is very likely to suffer his first first-round NCAAT loss.

Wiscy seems correctly seeded. 0-8 vs BIG top 5. They always have the kenpom algo nailed.

FWIW, I wasn't making a comment on their seeding. It's scary how close their Four Factors plus AdjT mirror UVa. UVa owns UNC. Cut and dried for me.

Thanks ligastar! Even though playing against Wichita State has not historically been good to the Pups, I see an early line of Drake -0.5.

Looking to see if they'd set TV time yet, I came across this on KWCH.com (Wichita TV station):

That didn't seem right. Turns out the women's team was 16-11/13-5. Good work on research guys!

If they can win the opener, first round against USC, where one of my good friends went to school, so I imagine we'll have a bet if that comes to pass.

Drake had some success a long time ago (1969 Final Four, competitive against Alcindor's UCLA team), but not much since. 1986 NIT, 2008 NCAA, but many of the years in-between (and a lot since I was there), they were more like 4-8 win seasons.

When they had that good team in 2008, my friend got tickets to the opening rounds in Tampa. Of course we went, figuring we'd never get that experience again. (I think the previous NCAA appearance was 1974 or something).

Great game, even though my team came out on the wrong end. Down something like 16 with 14 minutes left, started raining in shots. Took Western Kentucky to overtime, was up with just a couple seconds left. WKU guy threw in a ~24 footer at the buzzer to win. Tip of the cap, he made a play.

Yeah they are definitely correctly seeded but they're probably a bit better than most 8/9 seeds in history.

Anyone interested in a seed draft?

"Basically there are 4 people in the draft. We randomly order them and then it just becomes your standard snake draft format where you draft teams in the NCAA tournament. The catch is you can only draft one of each seed. So at the end there will be 4 teams each with a 1-16 seed. You get 1 point for each victory a team on your team gets. Most points at the end wins.

It sounds simple but there is obviously some real strat in the draft and it makes for a good sweat during the Dance."

I've done these most years. Theyre always fun

I just realized Drake is in the First Four. Drake was indeed the last team in. My oversight.

Really looking forward to the "Gonzaga can't win it all, they've only made one F4 and don't play anybody in the conference schedule"

Brought to you by the same take havers as "Virginia plays too slow and lost to a 16 seed, they can't win it all"

and

"Villanova doesn't recruit 5 stars and always chokes in the tournament, they can't win it all"

I go back and forth between "Iowa lost to Illinois twice, Michigan, and Gonzaga, they have no chance to win vs elite teams" and Iowa shot 4-22 from 3 while vs Gonzaga while they shot 13-26 and if Iowa shoots 30% while Gonzaga shoots 40% from deep that's enough variance to swing the game.

If Nunge hadn't gotten hurt I'd be riding the Iowa variance train hard in my brackets.

Iowa went 31 of 53 from inside the arc vs Gonzaga. Absolutely torched their defense. Got whatever look they wanted all game, just missed wide open 3s all day.
