me too, but both our teams are prob rooted to that seed line. the committee will prob make unc an 8/9 in the zags bracket in the hopes of setting up a rematch of the 2017 title game. they love doing **** like that (just look at how many times they've tried to force ku unc games in the ncaat). smh

Yeah. Sigh. CBS has Drake first four out, ESPN has them First Four in. I guess that's the definition of the bubble.

Yesterday, about the time Georgetown was thrashing Creighton, I jokingly wrote to my friend that it would work out. Drake will get pushed out, but then become a replacement team and pick up Kansas' 3 seed, avoiding the First Four game.

Might be my best hope now.

I've not been paying attention. Is that what they're doing? Naming replacement teams in advance for any teams that can't play due to COVID? Assuming that's only for the first round right?

Yes and yes

However, only if a team from a multi-bid team forfeits

If a 1 bid league team forfeits (like a 16 seed) they get replaced with another team from that league (so the team playing against the forfeited team should basically never end up having to face a better opponent)

Afaik this only applies to forfeits that happen within 48 hours of the announcement of the bracket.

If a team forfeits on Weds or Thurs, then it's just a bye

Which is dicey, bc unless literally everybody on your entire team has covid, you're going to hang on as long until the last possible second to try and play

Interesting. Thanks for that. So all 68 teams will have a named replacement?

For the lesser leagues is it just the team that lost in the conference tournament final? What a wild scenario.

After the first round you get COVID you just forfeit and the other team moves on obv right?

fwiw drake is currently the fourth #11 seed in the matrix which is a positive sign:

well like 12 of the teams or however many 1-bid leagues there are will have a named replacement (not sure if they will actually name the team in advance... will be interesting to see if some confs choose regular season winner or finals runner up) and then the other 56 teams will have the same 4 replacements, in order.

Being the 1st alternate rather than the last team in means you probably don't get to play the tournament, but if you DO, you get to skip the play-in game and also slide into a high seed. odds of making the round of 32 might be ballpark the same lol

That makes sense. Hilarious set of circumstances.

Also bizarre for these 1-bid league teams. Lose your conference tournament but keep practicing without even knowing if you'd be the alternate or not. When the season ends it's natural to just completely check out.

Thanks, ligastar. As Lunardi has Drake in, I feel decent about that.

GoldenBears brings up a good point about testing I haven't thought of--that, left to their own means, teams would wait til day before their opener to test. I wonder if the NCAA is going to mandate daily rapid testing for all teams in the field, plus alternates.

awesome finish

love this bama team too

down 1 with 25 seconds left, LSU misses the FT, Bama grabs the rebound and just GOES

sprints down the court and makes a layup

none of this michigan, dribble the ball for 25 seconds and shoot 3 at the buzzer nonsense

01 was good for all the upsets and the buzzer beater to win.

thanks for the free Iowa under 2.5 Kambi, too bad you limit me to peanuts on that nonsense, luckily some others allowed to bet real money for me
