It's an interesting idea, but I wonder how often it would work in practice. How many successful older coaches don't want to coach? How many younger coaches are going to want to have someone like that around?

Matta is a bit of an unusual case, if the rumors that he failed a physical are true. He may not be able to get hired as a coach even if he wants to coach.

razorbacker,

That is an interesting idea. I'm normally fundamentally opposed to "the answer is, we need more management!" Seen it destroy companies in my career.

This might be the rare application where another layer is good--it's not really hiring management, but expertise.

Booker makes a good point, though. Maybe a good notion, but doesn't work too great in reality.

Sean Miller out at Arizona. Not a great year for the Millers.

Some great rumors swirling around today of potential landing spots:

Keion Brooks to IU, Jacob Young to Michigan(this one would be a perfect fit), Cam'ron Fletcher to Florida State, Walker Kessler to UK

Yesefu just committed to Kansas

Well, crap. I guess Drake's back to middle-of-the-Valley.

Good for Yesefu, hope it works out for him.

The guy said it could create a new role for retired coaches. I'd think Roy Williams would be perfect for that. He also said it could allow for programs to make riskier hires or bring guys in from the NBA. He made some interesting points but I agree that the ego's of coaches are too big in most cases. We see that with Phil Fulmer at Tennessee.

I assume the Brooks stuff is fake. Some rando started it 2 days ago but who knows. You see it from someone legit? I don't even think I want Brooks unless he can figure out how to shoot again. Helluva rebounder but it appears he wasn't good at anything else.

Former Pitt PG Xavier Johnson announces at 5. Down to IU, Baylor, Houston, St Joes. Seems to be a lot of IU smoke, would assume that means Armaan Franklin is headed to Virginia, Illinois, Lville, or ND. Would also mean IU is going to need shooting from the 4 position which I would think Jerome Hunter and Jordan Geronimo will be manning for the bulk of the minute so the fitting of Brooks could be tough if he can't shoot.

from vecenie. "Texas Tech was eight points better per 100 possessions defensively when Peavy was on the floor than when he was off, according to Pivot Analysis"

I don't see how these guys who have coaches as dads can be terrible shooters. Trey Galloway at IU is the same way.

Did Geronimo decide to come back? I thought he was in the portal.

Hey Redd,

Mac McClung is in the portal again, looks like you'll have a chance to add a third jersey to your closet.

Presumably Texas but who ****ing knows anymore

Interesting proposed changes. Getting the choice of out of bounds or free throws on a foul in the last 2 minutes will completely change the end of games.

I feel like there were some big strategy exploits with those that an advanced coach could've taken advantage of. For example, at the end of halves, I think I would almost always be fouling the worst FT shooter on the court (provided he was <60%) if it was in the 1 and 1.
