after tonight's 8 for 39 dook is now a 30.6% 3PT% team (good for ~324th in cbb). they are an awful shooting team (they suck at FT shooting too).

they're a steaming hot pile of dog **** without Zion. possibly not a second weekend team w/out him imo.

Yeah **** this sorta blew my cover on the bet of the year.

I just don’t know where their offense is going to come from unless Trey Jones somehow becomes a much better player. They have no high threat shooters, so now teams can double Barrett on every drive and not worry about leaving Zion 1 on 1.

I legit think Duke is 16-18 points worse without Zion (which would put them in the territory of teams like Buffalo, Villanova, and LSU.
I agree 100%. Duke is legit worse almost 20 points without Zion.

They will lose in the first round without Zion.

FINALLY! Coach K will be exposed for the front running rat faced piece of **** he really is.

****. Boeheim struck a guy while driving on the highway last night and killed him. Apparently, the man was in a crash and had gotten out of the car.

Why is Duke allowed to essentially pay Zion $50,000 for his insurance policy?

Quote:
According to Darren Rovell of The Action Network, Williamson cannot collect on the policy unless he slips past the No. 16 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, however. Rovell later added that Duke paid for the policy, which is allowed under rule, noting that the "premium for a $8 million loss of value policy runs around $50,000."

lol that's such an amazing deal for the insurance company

Shouldn't teams then do things like give Luke Maye an "insurance policy" where if he doesn't get drafted in the Top 10 he gets a million bucks?

Not surprisingly, the topic du jour this morning in the media (especially the dspn shows SC, Get Up!, and First Take) hasn't been UNC's overwhelming performance or Maye's 30/15 but Zion's blown out shoe/injury and whether he should shut it down for the season and focus on the NBA Draft (where he is projected to be the #1 overall pick).

What says this thread? Should Zion pull a "Nick Bosa" and call it quits on his college career? We know he's been paid/getting paid and receiving extra benefits from dook but certainly not to the tune of the millions that are on the line should he sustain more damage to that knee. Zion and his family are in a tough spot.

How bad is the injury? I’m sure he’ll get medical advice as to the risks if he is even able to come back.

With the insurance policy I think he comes back if he’s anywhere close to healthy but I have zero else to base that on.

Jimmy didn’t see him. Jimmy drives well. Jimmy woulda never hit him on purpose !

He seems like the type of guy who will come back if he is cleared to play.

Duke is gonna lose more games if he misses the rest of the regular season. If he came back and backpacked them to a title (several ifs in there) I could see it being worth an additional $25-50mm. It feels like if he sits out he will get a shoe deal worth $60-80mm but if he boosts his stardom even higher he could get a shoe deal upwards of $100mm. I legit wouldn't be surprised if he got a bigger deal than Lebron's rookie deal with a NPOY and NCAA title behind him (given the inflation in pricing in general) whereas I think he sticks in the area slightly better than Durant if he doesn't play again.

I don't think his value increases at all by coming back and leading Duke to a title.

He's gonna get a massive endorsement deal no matter what because he has huge potential and is already a massive star.

@Booker ... The word on TDD last night was that he was having an MRI today at 10 AM. I haven't heard any info regarding the news after the medical procedures this morning. We know that K will work whatever angle he can to get Zion on the floor again ... so we should keep his influence on the situation in mind. His career is winding down and this could be his last real chance of getting another 'ship.

@Zimmer ... Certainly his value increases with a 'ship right? How could it not?

Word is the frosh are really close and enjoy balling with each other. I agree with CDL in that if the medical issues aren't anything serious we'll see him play again. That said, maybe you just play him for the second UNC game and the NCAAT games and hold him out of all other games.

If it's "stable" then most likely a grade 1 MCL/LCL sprain.

This is so wrong. I'm not saying that means he should come back but lol @ that. Of course his value increases. He already has a legendary aura to him and coming back to win the title would add to that

You can’t keep a good man down!

Zion will be back and better than ever.

UNC’s gonna choke. Zion, the gold jacket’s yours!

This is unreal. The roads were really icy last night so that might have been a factor.

I admit I am a full blown Duke hater, but has any of these recent one and done players improved their game at all at Duke? He had his team slapping the floor in a 2-3 zone last year for chrissakes.

I guess do most if any 1 and done players improve in college?

Hard to say. I'd think melo probably improved his draft stock

McClung had 4 points the first time they met. Jay probably figured they didn't need to guard him.

can you still score a bucket while committing a charge if you get the shot off before there is any contact? I know you used to be able to but also thought it may have gotten changed.

Pretty sure that rule changed since it led to so much confusion
