Seems to me the pressure and speed of the Illinois D and early fouls on Clark and Norvell took Gonzaga out of their game. I think Few's idea was to break the press deep to find gaps in the interior which, if successful, would then lead to opportunities for some open 3s. The problem was they couldn't consistently beat the pressure and if they did for a moment, Illinois recovered quickly.

Gonzaga just seemed rushed, their timing was off because they could play as quickly as was needed which was dictated by the Illinois defense.

jason benetti has been great with walton

Had a pretty good night last night but all for naught because I put 5 units on UNC who lost an absolutely sick back door cover to SFPA. Love the slate tonight. Duke v. Auburn should be good but I just think Duke is so much better than pretty much everybody that 11 points is too short. Here's what I'm liking for tonight if anyone cares. I have a love/hate relationship with Walton. His enthusiasm is at times over the top. And he lost me a prop bet years ago when I set an over/under line at four on Walton saying “throw it DOWN” in a Lakers game. Shaq dunked on the first possession and Walton went nuts: “throw it DOWN throw it DOWN throw it DOWN throw it DOWN” in the first damn possession.

Still, he’s smart and knows basketball.
