2 road wins all year (albeit one over Wichita St which is their best win), 6-9 in conference so far. I think given there are no free wins in the B12 this year I can see the argument for a 8-10 team in conference getting in the field, but that team prob has a much stronger OOC resume than wins @Wichita + neutral site vs USC

I agree that without the Trae Young hype and being one of the 3 games ESPN advertises for every single week they'd be a bubble team and probably on the wrong side of it right now.

Most of the season, the stories on ESPN.com's college basketball page have basically been Trae Young, Duke, Trae Young, Duke, Trae Young, Duke, etc.

Maybe a 7th straight loss by 30 points will clear up some fog.

Yeah this reminds me of all the hate Ben Simmons got at LSU.

The lol narrative of

"Man how good can he be if he cant even make the tournament?" surrounded him and people legitimately tripped over themselves to have Simmons vs Ingram as a legit debate for #1 overall because of nonsense about Duke being good and LSU not making the tournament.

Turns out, teammates matter in a sport of 5 on 5.

Trae was down to Kansas or Oklahoma in recruiting.

Imagine if he picked Kansas and ran that offense flanked by Devonte Graham, Svi, Vick, and Udoka. Kansas would be the overwhelming dominant #1 team in the nation and Trae would be talked about as elevating Kansas into an elite team a year after they lost player of the year Frank Mason and top 5 pick Josh Jackson.

But he didnt. He picked 11-20(5-13) Oklahoma instead so now we see all these same hottakes surrounding him that surrounded Ben Simmons.

That's just a narrative. He's a fraud.

have to agree w/ this. i'm guessing the elite B12 conference ranking is helping them, but OU's results are trending towards an NIT invite. they prob only win 1 of the last 3 regular season games (putting them at 7-11 in the B12). and nobody expects them to make a run in the B12T.

put me in the Trae fraud camp. at the least, dude is not "must see TV". hell, i'd rather watch N.D.'s Farrell than Trae.

Ben Simmons is an athletic freak while Trae Young weighs 150 lbs at best and is an unathletic chucker who ran not for a handful of games. There is a big difference.

Also Young's defense is IT3 caliber.

Road win vs. Wichita St. was not a true road game as it was played off campus at the downtown arena although I realize the NCAA counts it as one. Wichita St. Was also missing one of their best players (McDuffie)

that day when you wish you never got that tat...

punishment is too harsh. feel bad for the 'Ville fans. have always liked the program and was pumped when the ACC announced they were joining the conference.

also, NCAA should've announced this after the season. this basically guarantee's a dook win tmr.

It's too harsh in the sense that it is horribly inconsistent. UNC gets no penalty, UL gets some of their best years erased.

most all of us are layman cbb fans itt. you some cbb genius or something? and from your response you signal yourself as a layman cbb fan.

you know what. i couldn't care less what you have to say about it. the NCAA did the right thing in the UNC case. you and the other ABCers will just have to live with it. your tears are sweet.

Louisville and UNC were both caught cheating. The punishments handed down were completely different. As in one got a massive penalty and the other got no penalty. Hope that helps. If not well I guess I'm not on your level.

Eta-Sick edit lol. You have brain damage or something?

the way in which they were caught cheating was entirely different. one was giving impermissible benefits to student athletes. the other was, at most, violating their academic accreditation. unc did nothing wrong which the ncaa had any jurisdiction over. really this was known from the start and the entire investigation was always doomed to lead nowhere, but people were mad and the ncaa didn't want to feel powerless so they had to at least try to prove that somehow these classes were impermissible benefits for the athletes. but they couldn't do that because they were available to all students, taken by more non-athletes than athletes, and the non-athletes got better grades in them than did the athletes. the ncaa does not have the ability to punish UNC because they had classes that were too easy. UNC's accrediting agency did put them on probation, however.

All schools have bs classes that athletes know about and so do regular students. Unc took it to the next level which is totally embarrassing but as others have pointed out it was a different type of cheating.

If Louisville provided hookers and blow to regular students too they would be fine.

Wichita,
Sorry for lashing out at you earlier. You're a solid poster with great cbb knowledge.

I get frustrated b/c a lot of ppl follow a narrative regarding the UNC case and don't take the time to understand (or more cynically understand but play the ABC role instead) why the NCAA ruled the way they did (see wahoo's solid synopsis below your post for a concise explanation).

UNC's case was never an athletic issue -- the media narrative was though. And there were powerful ppl and institutions working hard to push that narrative. I need to just chill though b/c in the world we live in now it's to be expected.

Like Fergie said the other day, I need to just keep the focus on the playing of basketball.
