Ball is inbounded to Kyle Guy, he's doubled, as VCU is pressing/fouling. Guy swings his body around and appears to elbow a VCU defender in the face. VCU defender falls down. No whistles are blown and the play continues, resulting in a wide open layup for UVA to go up 9.

VCU inbounds after the bucket, and with 12.5 seconds left in the game, VCU turns it over. At this point the refs blow the whistles to review ~something. Announcers at this stage assume the refs are checking to make sure the clock is correct.

Turns out the refs were reviewing the Kyle Guy elbow from 29.7 seconds left in the game, multiple plays before. Replay results in a flagrant and VCU getting two free throws and the ball for something that doesn't even appear to be egregious. This is basically the only possible way VCU could ever cover here.

Also worth pointing out: UVA had 7 team fouls and was in the penalty before VCU had one team foul in the 2H.

I'm done conspiratarding now, but after reviewing it on my dvr and writing this out it still seems real sketchy.

i don't even think guy hits him with the elbow, but i don't have dvr so i only really got one good look at it. but that also just can't be right that a flagrant can happen, then there's another foul, and a bucket, then the ball goes out of bounds, then a flagrant from before all that is reviewed on that out of bounds. i'm assuming the review was at the insistence of the vcu head coach - when the game was over anyway. i mean what would stop a coach from "saving" a flagrant review for the end of the game, or when the change of possession would be more beneficial, etc.

Yeah, Guy has pretty much no conscience when it comes to shooting threes. He's got a bit of a repertoire of moves to find closer shots, too.

each bracket is a separate tournament. the winner's of each bracket will not meet. Dook didn't want that possibility.
