UCLA is the only 3 seed with any F4 equity and I'm even low on their chances.

NIT trolling Boeheim. Cuse draws UNC-Greensboro in the first round after his rant about the ACC Tournament. Should've made them go on the road.

nevada/iowa st is going to be incredible to watch as a neutral party

Wichita as a 10 makes my soul hurt.

Nevada is weak as hell. 5 wins over Kenpom Top 100, none over top 50. Iowa State has been playing really well of late.

They are untested. St Marys was the only top 50 they had scheduled and it was the opener on the road.

I would take the over in this game. Both teams will rain threes all night

not saying its going to be a close game but given the styles its gonna be fun as hell to watch

SMU +800 on Pinnacle to win the East seems insane to me. Duke got a cake draw their first two rounds, and I don't see any way SMU can stop Duke. This is an SMU Defense that got lit up by Michigan before Michigan was actually even playing any good. Coach K with 4-5 days to prepare will find ways to absolutely pick them apart.

Midwest is the most fun/wide open region. Just not a ton of gap between teams like Iowa St/Michigan and even URI or Miami as a dark horse and Kansas/Louisville. Plus I think they got the weakest 3/4 in that region with a hobbled Oregon and lolMattPainter

SMU/Baylor will be a fun game of incredible athletes playing very disjointed, poorly coached basketball.

smu gives up a ton of 3s

duke might make 20

My guess is Monmouth. Resume not all that different from last year when they were a first four out.

Would confuse a lot of people (including me), but I think it's plausible.
Last year Monmouth had wins over UCLA, Notre Dame, USC, and Georgetown (and lol Rutgers for a Big 10 win) all of which were away from home obv.

This year their big wins were Memphis and Princeton. Not even close to the same resume. By far the best team in the league and got completely outcoached in the tournament again this season. They lost a heart breaker at South Carolina earlier in the year on a tip in jump shot at the buzzer. Maybe that game puts them in the discussion but this year they didn't deserve to be. Last year they got royally royally screwed though.

Given the lack of true road wins by most teams every year, that Monmouth snub last year is truly horrible. Cmon, let them in.

Lol Cuse. 2 wins away from Carrier dome this year.

I know nothing about Nevada and 5/12 games are always dicey. I would only be mildly shocked if we were to lose to them and the point of my posts wasn't to disrespect the Wolf Pack.

They were to disrespect Kansas.

I feel bad for all these experts who have fgcu beating florida state.

UNC is jokiest of jokes? What's State then? An abomination IMO. UNC won the ACC regular season by 2 games albeit with a favorable road schedule but that happens in a 16 team league and will continue to happen in such a large league.

Kenpom god hates UCLA BTW, 18th vs 3rd for UNC. UNC is rated pretty highly by Kenpom this year which is weird.

With that being said, confidence in games outside Chapel Hill isn't that high this year so will see what happens in the tourney.

Kenpom has Saint Mary's as better than Arizona - will be interesting to see what the line is if SMC beats VCU.

I understand Trier being back is a big factor that kenpom doesn't account for.
03-13-2017 , 05:01 PM
Kenpom has a lot of weird **** this year (and every year) that doesn't matchup with RPI/tourney seeds namely Wichita State, St. Mary's, Wisconsin, Maryland getting a 6th seed. Their typically pretty right at the top end being the best teams but that usually lines up with polls/rpi as well.

Indiana seriously took a road game in the NIT as the higher seed?
03-13-2017 , 05:55 PM
Our staff probably called 25 of the schools that made it to see if they would play us. What do they want us to do?"

Illinois State's HC, regarding not playing good enough competition in non conf. man's got a point, every year some mid major gets lol'd @ for lack of wins but only a handful of programs that may make the tournament consider playing them.

since it's 2017, they tweeted a challenge and ole miss seems to have accepted. Good for them.

I'm hoping seeds hold and they get Illinois at home in the NIT.

Sometimes the home arena is booked. Didn't something like this happen to kentucky once and then they hilariously lost?

This is why its important for the selection committee to give very clear critera for what gets you in and what gives you a higher seed.

But instead, theyre vague and move the goalposts not only every year, but seemingly with every teams explanation in the same year so they can continue to be biased and do whatever they want I guess?

Illinois State won more games than Vandy and had a higher RPI than vandy and was left out while Vandy was a 9 seed. I dont really care because Im not an Illinois State fan, but it would be nice to know exactly/specifically WHY they made some of the decisions they made(Wisconsin an 8 seed while Minnesota is a 5?!) so coaches at places like Illinois State can adjust and do whatever they need to do.
