Wait, salary filler? It's just a straight swap from Cavs point of view isn't it? Both picks are from POR aren't they?

The way I'm looking at it, if it had've just been a two team with Lauri going to POR I'd like it for both teams, Bulls front court is crowded and POR need bigs. Cavs stepping in and swapping Nance for Lauri makes it even better for POR, and Lauri makes a little more sense for what Cavs are doing than Nance, but it is still a little odd, you'd think trying to get picks or a back court player from someone would've been a better use

Cleveland is giving the 2nd rounder. But it's a sign-and-trade, they were the motivating team here by offering Markkanen a contract without the cap room necessary to sign it.

Honestly I'm not sure what Chicago is doing here, either, I thought they were trying to win now. Good move for Portland, though if they really have to lose Dame it'll look bad for them too.

So I'm going the exact opposite on the three team deal, at most 1 winner, very real possibility of everyone being a loser.

Chicago is trying to Win now but Lauri wasn’t going to be a part of that equation, he’s a weird fit on that team. They can use DJJ more than Lauri next year. Think they got good value

I was trying to think of who Portland could trade CJ for that would be a difference maker and couldn't really come up with any teams where it would make sense. Contract is 31M, 33M, 36M. Probably need to be a 3 way. CJ is a good player but I would really like to see Dame with a different co-star.

I like LNJr a lot for Portland. Dame-CJ-RoCo-Nance-Nurk is a pretty good look. Powell is also a really good player.

Any rumors around Portland about potential moves? Current team seems a step below the 'elite' level. Still live to title.

Salaries

Lauri: 16M, 16M, 17M, 18M

LNJr: 10.6M, 9.6M

DJJr: 9.7M

Seems weird Cleveland would rather Lauri than LNJr as a a holding spot for Mobley. Allen/Mobley has to be the future plan. LNJr is a better player on a better deal. DJJr is better than nothing for CHI. I think Patrick Williams is legit so I can see why Chi had no interest in Lauri.

Yea ok no idea why Cavs are giving a pick lol.

Feel like it's pretty locked as a win for Bulls?

The Memphis Grizzlies and veteran point guard Rajon Rondo have reached agreement on a buyout. Memphis will waive Rondo and he'll become an unrestricted free agent upon clearing waivers.

Upon clearing waivers, the Los Angles Lakers are the frontrunners to sign Rondo. 2021-22 will be Rondo's 16th NBA season. He played a big part in the Lakers winning the 2020 NBA Finals.

The Grizzlies acquired Rondo in a trade where they sent Eric Bledsoe to the LA Clippers for Rondo, Patrick Beverley and Daniel Oturu. Memphis subsequently traded Beverley to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez.

Memphis will still need to waive or trade at least three more players to get into regular season roster compliance.

Lakers didn't kick Rondo out. He left to get paid. Which he did. Now he's back.

The circle of life is complete.

Ben Simmons has signaled his desire to leave the Philadelphia 76ers and does not intend to report to training camp, a source confirmed to The Athletic's Derek Bodner on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported Simmons told the 76ers in a meeting last week that he no longer wants to be in Philadelphia.
Such a wasted talent. I don't even care about an outside shot at this point. Hit a FT.

idk...maybe Doc was just being honest. He knows Simmons. Simmons has known for a long time he can't shoot. If it's not Simmons fault, then ok, Doc is a snake. But maybe he refuses to work on it. He has made a big fraction of a billion as it is. Maybe he doesn't care about getting better and winning.

What does TZ think of the Capela extension for the Hawks? My first take is that it is quite bad.

Also getting my popcorn ready for more Ben Simmons drama, looks like it will get quite ugly.

Bad in what sense? From a basketball point of view can't see much wrong with it.
