I compare forwards to larry bird. kd is taller, freakier. Those shots and moves to get the 3 off...that wasnt invented. This is what guys dont understand. A lot of modern hoops was never imagined in the 80's. Bird would do all that given the chance. But seeing him drain 3's at 7 feet tall, his elevation to the rack...he is stronger than you think, his ass and legs make him the same weight as Giannis. A monster. There is no answer.

Rodman was more about partying, on the floor and off, than he was about winning. Now his skill set damn sure is ultra valuable in winning, but he's not leader of a team to a title: EVER! Whereas Russell spent a career doing that 13 times. Lost one playoff series in his career when on the floor, and that to the GOAT team ever at that point.

This is what Boids from the EPL thread would call a "fat man in the pub" argument. Russell was a great player - but in a one team league.

However, you seem to have no idea at all about what Rodman's impact was or why he had it. You could start with this series of articles, though there are other similar analyses on the internet.

Partying on the floor??? Cost his team recklessly??? (Is that in some mis-guided reference to "Bird steals the ball"?)

Are you a Celtics fan?

Rodman and Roberto Carlos are the two greatest athletes of all time, any sport. These guys could party all night bang a few girls, show for the game with no sleep and boss it.

I clearly make the point that Rodman was a great player. I also make the point that with him as best player on the team, you win zero titles. The idea of him spearheading and orchestrating championship teams and dynasties is a joke, you know this, so STFU and stay out of my pots.

Adam Silver probably imposes a Kyrie-Ben trade. Problem solved.

How many pre-season games does the NBA play this year and past years? That's something I've never known. Just tried to find it, wasn't coming up. Gonna guess 8 and it is down from like 30 years ago.

You have the #1 pick in the 1956 draft and Russell and Rodman are available. Who do you take?

Ditto, you have the #1 pick in the in a mid 80s draft and Russell and Rodman are available. Who do you take?

Bit late on this but feel like Dallas did the Haralbob thing perfectly. Hire him and give him basically free reign to build up your team then **** him off once you've got the team sorted. Someone like OKC or HOU should def give him a go. Then fire him as soon as he pisses of someone that actually matters

That's the most "NBA is a business not a sport" Mt Rushmore of all time. Not saying that's the wrong way to look at it but that's clearly where he's coming from (perhaps unsurprisingly). Maybe should have Kobe over Russell tbh.

MJ probably the only person on both the 'greatness/influence/face of NBA' and 'actual best players at the sport of basketball' Mt Rushmore. They're just completely different things.
