Today's surprise announcement: Rob Williams out tonight. Brad's ramp Williams' minutes to max late in the season plan ain't working out all that well.

It seemed like Utah had a decent team of weird looking white guys with weird looking moves, and then weird looking Jordan Clarkson came off the bench and chucked like 35 shots and all those white dudes became invisible.

And they have an elite shot blocker that prevents Curry from getting all the way to the rim too often. The net result is that Curry has to take a lot of absurdly difficult 3s (even by his standards) and a lot of tough 12 foot floaters. And the supporting cast has to make a lot of shots.

That happened last night, but it won't happen often enough for the Warriors to have any real chance in a series. Curry's line last night was pretty typical of what he will do in a series against Utah (11 for 25 with a lot of free throws and modest number of made 3s by his standards), but the Warriors would be lucky to get an efficient 20 points from Jordan Poole even one time in a full series against the Jazz.
Warriors won't beat the Jazz, Suns or Clippers.

We're the 8th seed for a reason.

We could steal one or two from any of the teams though.

Nesmith's development should be hot-housed the rest of the way: 38 minutes a night. Put Pritchard on the floor; cut some of Smart and Walker's time. Let Fall play in RWilliams' (assuming he's done) place to see if Fall has any chance of keeping up with game speed.
He had Nesmith at 13 mins vs Bulls a couple of game ago. Why? Because he was scoring 16 a game too much, getting too comfortable shooting the 3, getting too much good press. Have to keep him down. He who shall not be named has to keep him down... I am not talking about him...You know none of the above will happen.

He played Edwards vs the Heat and Pritchard the same 13 mins. Why? Because it's random and makes no sense in a team supposedly getting ready for the playoffs. Big article in Athletic on PP. You got to pump his ego, go for it. Strike while the iron is hot. He does the opposite. With Nesmith and PP, cuts them down. Like he did with Rob his whole career. Yet that mfer G. Williams can do no wrong. You can't just play your backup point guard PP, a rookie, who was on fire from 3, but needs to learn a lot...you cant play him a lot of minutes to get him ready? Guess not.

He gave Jabari some minutes after none for two weeks after 3 games of decent production. Why? Because it's clicking buttons. Because idk why.

Rob's health is disappointing, but "turf toe" isn't chronic. His knee tendonitis...Embiid was like that early in his career. I don't think you can count on him, but I'm not ready to say he will always be like this.

With turf toe, no surprise he is out. Probably until post season.

Any of you NBA gurus have an idea what sundays schedule might look like?

I’m guessing a bunch of East games will be at 7pm ET and a bunch of West games at 10pm ET for competitive balance? Then maybe 2 games earlier that don’t impact standings? Or like warriors-grizzlies if it’s 2 teams fighting for same spot (provided it doesn’t give unfair advantage to the Spurs or lakers).

Thanks. Trying to figure out plans.

I'm on record as saying I think Warriors are very live to beat the Jazz in a series. I'm rooting for Lakers to win play-in game for that reason (even though it'll result in Seadood laughing at me for "overrating" the Suns & CP3 getting unnecessary hate after LeBron LeBron's).

The Jazz aren't any more "designed" to stop Steph than Phx/LAC/LAL. In fact I give the Lakers the best chance of the bunch to slow him down with a combination of Caruso/LeBron/Lakers getting more leeway bullying him. He's gotten even more clever off the ball and Draymond has gotten even more visceral seeking out ways to get him the ball*. I also think it's important to remember the Jazz will be reintegrating Mitchell into the rotation. That's not a small deal.

*Check out how clever they've gotten

Do we trust Malone to stagger MPJ/Jokic better in the postseason? The Nuggz were up 17 early against Charlotte and Charlotte snap went on a 17-6 run with both out. They cannot have these brutal 3 min stretches come playoff time.

Agree with everything. The Warriors imo are tailor-made to beat the Jazz squad on both ends. They will still be decent dogs in my mind and bigger at the books, but I feel like it’s a matchup where GSW will overperform while Utah could under.

Wholesome triple double culture beating the 76ers (also no Embiid which may matter) with a smooth 16/13/15 cause why not.

Nothing makes sense anyway so might as well have fun with it.

He has staggered in the past few years but doesn’t always do it, I have no idea if there is a method to his madness or not.

P. Pritchard PG 14min 7 1 0 0 0 3-4 1-2 0-0 0 0 +6
C. Edwards PG 13min 2 0 3 1 0 1-1 0-0 0-0 1 0 -5

Nesmith got 18min. G Williams 20. PP is 22 years old, totally capable of going 40 if one were so inclined. Every min he gets is valuable experience. Or, otoh, if you see something in Edwards, nobody does but if you are say the coach and know something, then you figure that out before the last couple weeks of the season...you don't DNP him for April and then put him in the rotation. Nobody does that. Or is he in the rotation?

Would it shock anybody if Jabari is the first guy off the bench in the play-in and he goes 20 mins?

Nothing matters with this team at this point, but developing players, defining rolls, I don't think that is old school. That's how you avoid being inconsistent. Playing talented players, guys who have upside who can give you a chance...idk I could just be FOS but I don't get it. Everybody says he is a genius and hey 3 ECF in 4 years. ok...well it's 5 now. East is getting tougher. Tatum and some point guard got hot and C's won some series...Smart hit some shots and yes, the team defended. That's good and good coaching imo. But I don't get why C's can't be a normal team and do things the normal way.

I keep waiting for the regression with MPJ's shooting, but it keeps going up.

Up to 55/45/79, and it's been going up with his volume.

I think he has outs to being a top 5 shooter OAT, and the #1 shooter >6'8"
