Clippers must've went to a James Harden $50,000 free strippers extravaganza last night

Nah, in playoff mode they'd be up 30 here before being tied 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter.

Just saw the score. What on earth is going on in the Mavs-Clips game?

Also - agree with Geoff's rant about Elvid

Mavs 77, Clippers 27 at the half. Per @ESPNStatsInfo, that's the biggest halftime deficit in an NBA game during the shot-clock era, which started in 1954-55.

seems less than ideal

Would be pretty sick to see the Mavs continue to curb stomp the Clips en route to a 100 point of margin victory.

I had a feeling it was the biggest halftime deficit EVER. Kawhi signed up to play with these fools? LOL

Knicks signing Thibs is going to be one of those things that seemed absolutely inexplicably awful at the time, and then always somehow turn out even worse than expected, like taking Cavs taking Bennet #1 or that contract Knicks gave Noah

You'll be as hard pressed to find many people who hate the never-ending cycle of retread coaches throughout sports, or are as down on the state of the Knicks, as I am. With that being said I've already seen a number of immediate positive returns from the Thibs hire.

-Defend harder/smarter
-Better shot selection

Knox in particular seems to be benefitting a lot. I can't believe the strides he's made in multiple areas. He's a more confident shooter, he's making better decisions off the bounce, and he's leaps and bounds better defensively. He's more active, missing far fewer rotations, and using his body to stay in front of people on close-outs.

I've pretty much thought Knox was dead in the water since ~halfway through his rookie year bc I didn't see a guy who could contribute as a role player. But in his (granted limited) minutes thus far this year, I see a guy who should be starting next to Barrett/Randle/Mitch.

Anyway, Thibs obviously has his warts, he's stubborn and seems to be a bit hypocritical---he preaches defense/effort yet Elfrid has made at least 10 mind-numbing defensive decisions and Thibs continues to just trot him out there. Meanwhile he has a ++defender who is all about team/effort sitting on his bench for whatever reason. I would have hired Atkinson but I think you're overstating how bad the decision was.

Maybe, you'd certainly know better than I would about anything Knicks related. I think it's worth noting though that the big problems with Thibs have never been like, intelligence or basketball strategy related. It's his stubbornness as you mentioned, lack of people management skills and playing of favourites, "old school" approach to sports science (ignoring it), with his insane practices and minutes management and stuff like that, things that become problems over time. So you'd hope there are good early signs, because generally with a Thibs team there will be problems later. My comment was based on the fact that it sounded like even the pure basketball side was looking bad too, but if you say there are good signs there I'll change my opinion back to "probably only as bad as expected" (though Obi doing a calf strain in his first game, while probably just bad luck, sure isn't a good look).

See I think the opposite. He's far more likely to maybe improve them a few spots off the bottom, but get like RJ or someone injured in the process

The way I see it if Thibs is here for 2-3 years and guys like RJ/Knox/Obi get tougher/smarter and improve their work ethic/defensive intensity while also not suffering any career devastating injuries I'd take it as a win lol. The bar is just so low in NY.

Oh yes. Oh yes. There are early signs.

5 out of 15 on the roster are out of tonight's game with injuries.

RJ Barrett played in the mid-high 30minutes in each of the Knicks first two games. Probably will play the same minutes every game this year. (Thibbs hasn't broken him yet.)

Elvid-19 starting for a third straight game. Because he's a "vet".

None of the point-guards have any confidence because Thibbs balls them out whatever they do. E.g., look at DSJ vacillating between shooting/not-shooting, driving/non-driving, zooming up court/getting double teamed by the half-court/time-line. Thibbs calling him over after essentially every play to second-guess him. I mean, I think DSJ is a scrub and a wash, but the coaching sure isn't ****ing helping any.

The only ones handling the ball with any confidence are fragmentary minutes of IQ playing against Cleveland's 3rd/4th string (13-20 on the preseason roster) who eschewed a zone in order for the coach to see if they, individually, were capable of playing man-D - or should just be cut - who's too much of a rookie to understand, and Burks - who only has played about 5 fill in minutes a game, once he's already established being in the swing as creating on the ball as a SG.

It's Fizdale level of criminality.

Also: "Free Frank" - for ldo obvious reason. But he's also just going to be screwed over by Thibbs's atrocious attitude/coaching.
