I would think the Blazers say no because they are (imo wrongly) married to CJ Mac, but even then that's basically a 3 year dead contract to take for what is a positive or neutral contract, and Horford gives them a 2nd oddly-fit center for next season.

I'd do it if I were the other two teams though, Simmons >>> Shai as a long-term prospect.

The bottom line is Horford is going to be tough to move unless you get another negative contract back imo.

Portland would say no even if they weren't overly attached to CJ as already mentioned. I'm not really sure why they even need to be involved with this? Assume it's just to make the money work? Otherwise just wishful thinking from a Philly fan. Noone wants Horford. But I definitely think there's some merit to the idea of a Simmons for CP3 + SGA based trade if you can reasonably get it to work within the CBA, it's about as close to full value as you'll get for Simmons if you're Philly and the fit with Embiid is night and day. Win win for me.

I'm coming around to the idea of the blazers making a run.

Decent chance they finish 9th or even 8th and make the playoffs, and if they do, they are by far the worst possible matchup for the lakers out of all the 8 seeds.

They've got Nurk, Collins and Whiteside to throw at AD, can hope Melo can conjure up enough old school magic to slow down Lebron, and then Dame and CJ are just going to annihilate KCP/Caruso/Kooz/Danny Green.

Becomes a matchup of strength vs strength, rather than like the Pelicans where lebron > Ingram and AD > Zion

home court being removed from seeding in this playoff means not much more than the specific match ups with your opponents on a neutral court. fans don't matter, travel doesn't matter, etc.
mix in the variables of players being a bit more susceptible to injury coming back quick after a long layoff and the covid wildcard and who the hell knows how this will all end up.
