A cool trick to better visualize the chessboard is to go square by square and visualize each diagonal.
Like the dark square long diagonal would go:
a1-b2-c3-d4-e5-f6-g7-h8
and the light square long diagonal would go:
h1-g2-f3-e4-d5-c6-b7-a8
Then take the next diagonal:
a2-b3-c4-d5-e6-f7-g8
etc.
Then visualize them in the reverse order, etc.
Also try to know from visualizing which square is light or dark. like f4 is dark, g4 is light.
It'll be challenging at first but if you do some practice with it you'll def. see progress.
