If Kings get that Barnes back and he'll be the third option behind Fox and Hield like he was behind Curry and Klay it's a great get. Maybe he has just changed irreparably though and Dallas Barnes is all there is now, who knows. They get a few months to find out before they offer any new contract though.

Why not? What else are they going to get with the money. 25 million for Barnes is probably an "overpay" in general, but not compared to what most non-max free agents get. They would just end up paying two bench guys 10 mill each or something. If you aren't getting a max guy, cap space really doesn't buy you much. They have excess space because they are massively underpaying 3 rookies, and aren't a destination. Might as well throw the money at a guy in his prime who fits very well with your other 3 (seriously, GSW Barnes is like the perfect guy to have play alongside Fox/Hield/Bagley and look for the Fox-Hield-Bogdanovic-Barnes-Bagley lineup to kill it next year).

Sure, if he’s going to a championship team with superstars where he is clearly the 3-4th option then it could be a good fit (There was no iso to go around back then). But he’s not. And he wasn’t making much back then and was very young.

You cannot have a contender if you are paying Barnes a long term big contract in my opinion.

And he has an option for $25 million next year. Sure, if they can get him to agree to $12-15 million per year I’d say it’s decent. But he’s not doing that.

Love Niko for the Buck's. He allows them to do some really cool like-ups. Bledsoe-Brogdon-Middleton-Niko-Giannis is going to be really fun to watch. They can even go huge with Brook but still maintain great spacing on O.

Gasol will be great as the play maker for the 2nd string. I think Siakam and Serge will keep the starting job outside of certain match-ups.

It's practically impossible for Sac to have a contender regardless. The only way that'll happen is if their current young big 3 turn out good enough. Paying Barnes will help that happen (assuming he'll be the 3rd and eventually 4th option, I definitely agree that if he stays as the ball dominant guy he was in Dallas he's a bad fit).
