pretty pointless to analyze fultz going forward based on this year's play outside of "can he still shoot a basketball"

pretty dum shot, Oden was favoured by most at the time

I favored Durant myself but if I recall Oden flashed enough talent in his very limited NBA time that I think he's a first ballot HOF player if he wasn't the real life villain from Unbreakable.

Fwiw with regards to Fultz hitting bottom 5% his rookie season, iirc there was a report after the trade was agreed upon where the Sixers wanted to have a workout with Fultz before finalizing the trade and it was reported that Fultz was awful and I think that his shot looked off there. Poor workouts on players that turn out great probably happen all the time though, but maybe they should have seen that his shot was busted. Edit(I’d love to be a fly on the wall for Fultzs workouts with Boston and everything involved in that. Did they realize his shot was busted? Did they actually just love Tatum individually? Did they largely just love trading down and taking the top wing thinking that versatile wings is a market inefficiency?)

Also Colangelos run was bad. Everyone seems to forget the Bayless contract. Good shot they’ll have to burn a 1st rounder to dump him if LeBron or PG wanna sign with them this summer. Jah trade was awful too. He gave up a 2nd for a player they cut like 50 days later. Good shot it was largely owner mandated but dude sold 2 2nds last year too effectively trading Noel for cash and Justin Anderson. Just the principle of selling picks bothers me.

Outside of that he just didn’t do anything great. He deserves some credit for not giving Redick and Amir multi year deals but he gave them as much money as other teams would have offered hem for 2 years. Deserves some credit for Simmons despite large #1 consensus’s and some shot Ingram ends up better than him too. Ilyasova and Belinelli were good signings. It’s unsure to me how much GM skill is involved in those, but still good. TLC is probably a good pick, who knows on Korkmaz??? I’m guessing probably bad.

Edit. Forgot the Covington signing. That was cheaper than I expected so props to BC for that one.

I don't think Colangelo did a bad job but not a particularly great one either. The Redick, Amir, and Covington signings were solid. The worst though had to be mismanaging the C situation for an entire year and then trading Noel for a "first round pick." That announcement pretty much told us everything we need to know about Bryan's character.

The OKC could trade Melo + a future 1st for K.Love, Raptors could try to move Ibaka + a pick for a different look & tonnes of other teams would want Love when he's on the table this summer. K.Love needs a good coach, in a good system and he will seen as a good player again around the league, i want to see him play for the Jazz beside Gobert in the front court.
Chandler, Ibaka, Melo are all negative assets on their current deals.

So saying the Cavs could swap him for those guysand a pick isn't saying very much.

Sounds like Babs Bottini threw the Sixers off a bit by doing a factory reset on her phone. Oh well, arrivederci!

Rachel Nichols said KD told her he was re-signing btw

Not a shocker or anything but should end any speculation about him leaving

Traditional power forwards generally lack ball handling to be playmakers, Draymond has ball handling but he isn't goign to dominate love the way Curry & Durant can, even Klay isn't going to torch Love, it's about playing smart. Also, just because somebody sets a screen doesn't mean Curry or Durant will get wide open 3's, it's called fighting over the damn screen & getting back to your man. Half the time when Love switched, the screen wasn't even set properly, Love just switched onto Curry like he's some Curry stopper for no reason, that is alot on Love but alot on coaching as well.

there's a reason everyone in the nba is looking for guys who can cover multiple positions, there's an entire craze about switching everything and it's in no small part caused by the warriors

Do we believe that Colangelo traded Noel because Brown wanted him gone? If so, does that affect how you view Brown's interim role?

Embiid sat out two years, Simmons sat out one, and neither looked like anything special in the playoffs. I don't get writing off Fultz based on this season.

I'm not saying switching isn't ideal bro, i'm just saying your coach has to know his personnel. The Cavs doesn't have an ideal defensive team in the modern nba to switch as much as they do & K.Love needs to put on some weight in the off season so that he can punish teams for going small and having wings guarding him.

If Brett Brown is interim head of basketball operations, how much of a mistake is it to let him prioritize ability to contribute immediately over long-term EV in the draft? What if he has no faith in Fultz and wants to trade him ASAP for someone who he will actually play?

Guess time will tell on that 1 but I'm guessing there will be input from many different people in the FO and they don't just let him yolo it.

If he takes 10 million less than the max again there needs to be some sort of investigation into cap / tax circumvention.

You say people are disrespecting Love and go on to propose these fair trades? Carmelo + Steven Adams + 1st, more like.

Love is still an all-star calibre player, imo. At the end of the day, he gives you really elite rebounding, is a consistent post threat, and is .377 3P% since joining the Cavs. He's the only player after Kyrie left you can feel the slightest bit good about if Lebron is off and he's exactly the #3 needed to win a championship.

I'm close to agreeing with whoever said that if Kyrie was still there, it's Cleveland up 3-0.

The only flaw is his perimeter defence and even then, a couple possessions where Durant/Curry scored were only from incredible shots. Sure he's getting beat, but he's not getting beat like Ryan Anderson. Sometimes it's been pretty lockdown. See: 2016 Curry shot.
