I hope Young opts in.
Pacers have their three best players locked up and/or on Rookie deals:
Vic-3 yrs/$21M per
Myles-Last year of his rookie deal
Sabonis-Two more years of his rookie deal
Then you have the player options:
CoJo-Picked up for $8M
Thad-$14M
Both were really solid players for the Pacers and one more year would be great for both their futures and for the Pacers
Next you have the three non or partially guaranteed deals:
DC-$10M next year, guaranteed for $2M
Bojan-$10.5M next year, guaranteed for $1.5M
Al Jefferson-$10M next year, guaranteed for $4M
I don't hate either move with the top 2. DC and Bogie played at or very near their peaks last year and both are going to be 30. No reason to lock them up long term, but if they can continue to produce and then come off the books, I'm cool with that.
As much as a love Care Bear,
Al's days as an NBA player are over. Love to have him as a bigs coach though.
Lastly you have the team options:
Lance-$4M
Mighty Joe Young-$1.6M
LOL @ not keeping Lance. Lance doing Lance things accounts for 25% of all tickets sold to Pacer's games. Joe Young is likely gone, and that's fine.
Long story slightly shorter, the Pacers have an insanely good cap situation for a ~50 win team. It's up to KP not to **** it up now.
