Besides that he makes a good point
Well, except for the fact that it was 4 seasons of tanking at most, not 6. The Sixers were 1 game from the Conference Finals in 2012.

You want me to acknowledge another highly efficient night from lolonzo scoring 11 points on 13 shots while playing 40 minutes?

Process haters/lovers,

Here is a list of teams that have made the playoffs one time or less since the 76ers last made it:
Nuggets
Pistons
Pacers
Lakers
Wolves
Pels
Knicks
Magic
Suns
Kings

Take out future prospects entirely, which of those would you say has had a fan experience better than Philly? Worse?

Not that it’s a very high bar with that list, but the pain and suffering inflicted the Process is like marginally worse than the plight suffered by any usual bottom third team, IMO. Like any random 5 year stretch you picked would probably have multiple teams as miserable as Philly was during that time .

I dunno, I would have loved to see the sixers try and make it work with evan turner, thad young, jrue holiday, and vucevic. woulda been a real contender.

That would have lead them right into GIANNIS in 2013

The Knicks had a nice playoff run the year they were the two seed. It was a fun year. Certainly a lot more fun than any Sixers fans had during that time frame.

Being better than the Knicks is a pathetically low bar to try to set tho.

and heres a list of teams with more equity to win a title within the next 5 years than Philly:

Warriors
Cavs
Spurs
Rockets

and maybe Boston. Although the fact that Philly has a 10% chance of getting Lebron this summer while Boston has a <5% chance probably puts Philly ahead.

Vucevic was traded away the previous summer; this is the team Hinkie started with while owing two future 1sts:

https://www.basketball-reference.com.../PHI/2013.html

The only players that had any value, however limited, were Young, Holiday, Turner and Hawes. And those players only combined for seven seasons with a positive BPM over the past FOUR seasons. (4/7 came from Jrue Holiday where his peak BPM was 2.3.)

It's incredible what he did over three short years. Especially when they got nothing from Noel and drafted a bust in Okafor.

It was 100% the right strategy especially given the situation. He squeezed every ounce of value out of the process.

Doesn’t seem like a bad list although warriors are so much above the other 4 it’s crazy imo especially in a playoff format. Only thing that brings them down are injuries and cap issues. Boston I think has decent amount of equity especially if Hayward is anywhere near where he used to be come next season.

The mistake people are making is that its a lot easier to jump from complete garbage to kinda good than it is from kinda good to title contender, and the fact that you're just assuming they do so because theyre young and kinds good is completely insane.

didn't philly technically run bad wrt to total draft picks the last 2-3 years also? I know the lakers pick didn't come through and not sure what it is now.

Lakers ran really well but all of their picks have been quite mediocre. Philly has lakers pick next year and it can move based on what the lakers record is. It’s protected 1 and 6 and above for Boston to acquire it. Else, Boston gets the better of the Philadelphia or Sacto picks in 2019. 2018 draft >>>>>> 2019 draft so philly gets a huge benefit for moving the pick to 2019. With that being said, sacto will still be a bottom 3 team in 2019 while philly has some sort of top 10 and possibly top 5 team equity.

Sixers could have drafted porzingus anyways in 2015. Not sure who would really help from the 2016 draft—they got the best players anyways. 2017 I guess they could use tatum or another guard if they got the lakers pick.

Well, I tried to specifically leave how good they’re going to be out of it - although they’re almost certainly better off than anyone else on that list.

The point I was trying to make with that list is that the four years of extreme tanking doesn’t seem like it was that much worse than a lot of teams that were presumably trying like “normal”. Like the gap between being a low to mid 30 win team and being a team winning in the teens every year isn’t much from a fan perspective in hindsight.

I suppose if most people agreed with that then Hinkie wouldn’t have gotten the boot though.
