Turned into watch Lonzo Bust.

Slow and can't shoot. Still a bust waiting to happen.

Clippers shot 39% and are going to win by 20.

Ingram just turned 20 in September

I understand Ingram is young but showing 0 improvement after a year in the pros is mighty troubling for a high lotto guy. I can't find a single thing he's even mediocre at.

It's one game. By that rational Kat, Embiid, and Jokic have all regressed mightily.

One thing I hate is the way BI is being developed. Imo he should be groomed as a 3+D guy first and then introducing other things later. He just looks like he's trying to get good at ten different things and is not picking up any of them.

Yea, lolBall aside I'd buy whatever Ingram equity/stock I could right now.

Kind of amazed that what feels like ALL of you have written him off already.

Kids gonna be a stud.

lol at Ingram being a stud. I'd rather have Kyle Anderson, and he's ****ing terrible

Just for the sake of my own curiosity, what could possibly lead you to have this opinion? I mean he's shown absolutely nothing in his year+ as a pro. He's scrawny, he can't shoot, he can't dribble, he can't pass, he can't finish around the rim, and he doesn't do much defending. He's just been a disaster. I'm firmly in the camp of these top picks should be given maximum amount of time to reach their potential, so I'm fine with the Lakers (or their fans) not giving up on him obviously, and I'm not saying he's dead to ever be good, but I just have no idea how anyone could confidently proclaim he's going to turn it around.

I'm not sure I like this new Geoff being the voice of reason. I prefer the guy who Knaxed it up and came at me every time I mentioned something remotely critical about Melo.

Geoff has been the voice of reason and basically the best poster itt for years

I think people going after Ball for being 'slow' and a bad defender (at 19) or whatever are sort of missing what potentially makes him great.

By and large we're probably psychologically predisposed to placing more value on things we can't do ourselves*. Crazy dunks, shooting a one legged turnaround fadeaway, breaking someone's ankles. We see people do that stuff in the NBA, and we know we can't do it at that level. Therefore, that must be the difference between being in the NBA and not, right? But maybe we're wrong, and while that stuff is fine/good, it actually isn't the most valuable skillset in the world.

I dunno how much I believe that, but Lonzo represents the culmination of that idea above - if it's true he could be something special (although maybe we're not a good enough judge of talent to ever be able to recognise it). If not, he'll probably be bad to mediocre. Probably he'll be somewhere in between. Personally I think and hope he'll be very good to excellent.

*When it comes to basketball, people like me and dean are almost certainly biased in the other direction, and to some extent want him to succeed as proof that our way of thinking about basketball is 'the right way' or something.

He's not nearly as athletic as Rubio, though.

Does anyone know why Hernangomez doesn't play? Is it the usual euros can't play defense mentality operating on the bench? (I admit, euros can't play defense, but that's not my question).

I was looking for a big jump from Ingram this year, but its not looking to be the case. The dude put up a 7.3 PER in 5 preseason games too.

Still on the Lonzo train though. I think a better shooting Rubio is a reasonable comp and that player would be a hell of a player(and with whatever the **** is going on with Fultz's shooting I think Lonzo is probably now the most reasonable #1 in redrafts). I worry about his effectiveness maintaining 100% in the playoffs with more half court play, but still.

Also I can already see how this season is gonna be with Lonzo. In terms of posting its gonna be similar to Embiid and Lebron with how polarised Lonzo already is. When those 3 guys are crushing you forget they have haters, but you get a game like tonight or an injury setback for Embiid, and itll be just a mountain of hate.

I think hes got a long ways to go offensively. Right now, he just stands in the corner and occasionally cuts to the basket.

Ingram's potential is like a top scorer on a bottom 5 team in the 80s when everyone played like idiots.

Lonzo? Magic with a jumper

Immediately regretting my Lakers o34 bet. Prob the worst one I've ever made. Bulls o22 isn't looking too good either, but in the East it's feasible for a D-League game to get 22 wins

I disagree with the last statement, it isn't easy to just practice your shot and make it better. Also, there would be diminishing returns in just practicing one thing. I think there are different ways to groom players and 2+2 has it wrong where they want a guy to contribute immediately on a bad team and then start to add more things into their game (the Kawhi development path-save for the bad team part). That doesn't end up working in almost every other case.
