And it had nothing to do with Mitchell. When he subbed in at 5 minutes it was a 10 point lead and for the right until the :40 the lead was still 10. During that stretch Mitchell went 0-2 getting both blocked and a turnover. Utah made two straight 3s, one of which banked in at the buzzer by JJ (I swear he is like 55% on these), then Utah went on a major run sparked by their defense and Denver completely imploding. Mitchell had very little to do with it at all. If you're going to praise his +- you might as well say how awesome Thabo and Epke were, because theirs were higher.

I like Mitchell, but he was very mediocre that game. He's shooting ~40/30% in Summer league, Preseason, and now the regular season. I still think he has a good shot to get ROY because he's going to take a ton of shots, and the voters tend to overlook things like turnovers and efficiency.

Unless Im misunderstanding you here, I think your numbers are off. When Mitchell was playing point during the down 10 to up 12 stretch he had 3 assists and 4 points.

0:00 Joe Johnson makes 25-foot jump bank shot (Donovan Mitchell assists 83-78

9:35 Donovan Mitchell makes layup (Thabo Sefolosha assists) 85 -89

9:05 Alec Burks makes 26-foot three point jumper (Donovan Mitchell assists) 85 - 92

8:45 Alec Burks makes two point shot (Donovan Mitchell assists) 85 - 94

7:33 Donovan Mitchell makes free throw 1 of 2 86 - 95
7:33 Rudy Gobert enters the game for Ekpe Udoh 86 - 95
7:33 Mason Plumlee enters the game for Nikola Jokic 86 - 95
7:33 Donovan Mitchell makes free throw 2 of 2 86 - 96

7:00 Joe Ingles enters the game for Donovan Mitchell 86 - 97

EDIT: Youre correct he was 0-2 during that stretch. Initally thought you were referring to his entire time in from 3rd quarter on.

Jazz bench looks like Bulls 2011 bench mob

Great defenders everywhere, can play 4 wings 1 big or 2 traditional bigs, they will blow out a lot of second units

Old Joe Johnson is unbelievable dad-dicking Jokic when he was defending him.

League should add a 35+ MVP title

They really do have a nice bench for as long as they stay healthy. Their starters are kind of ass though, it reminds me a lot of the 2012-13... aww crap I can't do that this year or Geoff will call me out. But it does remind me of Denver back then where their bench backpacked the team.

Then id suggest investing in developong a time machine and going back to 5 years ago. There was zero interesting discussion in the NBA thread last year. This thread is already way better.

I fell asleep in the 3rd quarter of the Spurs & Nuggets games. I'm curious wtf happened there. Not that losing at Utah is a bad loss but 13 points in the 4th? That will probably end up being their season low.

It'd be really cool if Burks could stay healthy & contribute this season.

lol suns also

So I know this is nothing new but has anyone figured out a way around your team being blacked out on tv AND their channel physically unavailable locally?

Forever LP, and every sports package, thinks I'm in a Philly region, but I'm not, so it's blacked out. But it's physically impossible for me to get Philly channels with any cable provider. I know I could VPN and watch on computer but I don't want to go through that hassle. Has anyone ever successfully made a case to their tv providers (I have Direct TV in this case) to get this resolved? I need some PROCESS

Hayward's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that his client is unlikely to return during the 2017-18 campaign.

Despite that, Bartelstein said, "We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form."

Mike Lynch of WCVB reported that Hayward suffered a clean break with no ligament damage, meaning a best-case scenario could potentially see him return to the court in March.

I have no idea how he can put up such great stats yet seem to have almost no impact on the performance of his team. Anyone that watches the Pels know what he does really poorly?

Watched every minute of Nuggs/Jazz, can confirm that (at least tonight) Mitchell wasn't a primary factor in taking over that game. JJ and Burks were on fire, and that unit played great great team D. Nuggets helped by bricking all their 3s.

Watching Mitchell, it makes sense that he dominated summer league and preseason because he's super quick and has a lot of confidence in his ability to drive and finish. But opening night, against one of the worst interior defenses in the league, he showed that his game isn't refined enough to be a contributor right away. He's already a nice defender, though. He didn't record a steal but had maybe half a dozen deflections. Like him long-term.

New information on Hayward surgery. As good as doctors could hope. Clean break, no ligament damage. Prognosis is good. Best case? March return. Worst case? No rush or risk and sit out the season

I have the exact same feeling.

It looks like AD is the king of empty stats

Problem is nobody watch Pelicans except their fanbase. And they wont put the bad results on him

When did he played a playoff game ?

They got swept by the Warriors in 2015 in a 1v8 first round matchup.

I heard people say that the whole team was bad and that's why they weren't winning, but (I have no idea how to search this) I don't think they were much worse without him than with him.

edit: I've only ever seen him play vs the Raptors and he has always sat out those 2 games every year because he is scared of Jonas, except once last year he played and he showed why he had always been scared of JV.
