So weird how he just forgot how to shoot for like ~1.5 seasons and this year he's back to being a good outside shooter again.
ya, if he keeps this up in the playoffs then its gg woyas again. I mean, he took them to 6 without his 2 best players and shooting like 15% from 3 in 2015.

last yr his shot was off at the beginning of the series and then when it started to fall, well, so did gs.

Hakeem had a game with 38/17/6/7/12 and thats only the 99th best gamescore ever? That's absurd. I wonder how valuable 10 offensive rebounds, 7 steals, and 12 blocks is on its own?

Game score seems to put a ton of weight on high usage over other stats.

Victors gonna be real disappointed when the Warriors get beat in the first round.

Nah you're all right they would be much better with lebron for sure

Blake for Millsap who says no? The Clippers almost certainly improve but Blake is the more valuable asset so they could prob even get more to help their bench. Hawks get a star to build around going forward.

Blake is younger and better than Millsap. Not sure why LAC would do this.

Not sure I agree Blake is better right now, definitely don't think he's better on the Clips. Millsap is a much more capable defender both next to Jordan chasing 4s and as a small ball 5 and is a better floor spacer which would free up the lane. CP3+DAJ and 3 shooters has been just as good as with Blake in the lineup offensively, but on D the guys they run out there at 4 have been a step down defensively. In Millsap you get a guy about as good as Blake who doesn't negatively affect spacing or defense.

Blake is a much better passer. And Blake is a much better perimeter shooter. Obviously doesn't have quite the same range, but Millsap shooting 3.5 threes at 30% (many of these uncontested) doesn't seem too valuable. Millsap also awful (25%) from 16-22 ft. Blake shoots a ton of perimeter shots at ~44%.
01-02-2017 , 12:16 AM
Blake is a free agent though isn't he? I'd say there is like a 10% chance he stays in Atlanta if traded there... nothing like playing with a roster full of guys on bad contracts makes me excited.
01-02-2017 , 12:23 AM
Blake is a 38% career shooter on 16+ foot two pointers. Millsap is a 41% career shooter on those shots. This year's sample size on those shots is tiny, using just this year's numbers on those shots is silly. Millsap is also a 33% career 3 point shooter which, while not great, is perfectly fine for a 4. Even if he's only a 30% shooter now, that's still a much better shot than a 38% long two.

The Clippers never do that trade, though. Millsap is reportedly going to opt out this summer (duh), so the Hawks have very little leverage.

Improvement arc pretty clear for Blake, Millsap down a bunch last four years. Presumably as he got made as a shooter it got more difficult for him to make contested shots.

I'm snapping Blake over Millsap in a vacuum and in like every context (especially given his history/chemistry with long stint with current team).
01-02-2017 , 12:35 AM
Millsap is one of the best defenders in the NBA though, I'd take him over Blake in most situations.
01-02-2017 , 12:42 AM
Blake has had one instance of consecutive improvement in his 16+ ft. two point fg%, that's not a pretty clear improvement arc. There's a ton of variance from year to year in these numbers so the trend needs to be much bigger to be very predictive (certainly at a career high rate). Millsap has had two fine years in the last four, one above his career average, so that doesn't check out either. Add to that that Blake's numbers are almost certainly inflated a bit because of CP3.

I snap take Blake over Millsap, but it's almost all due to his age. I'd value them pretty similarly in a vacuum, but I think Blake gets a bigger bump with CP3 because of his athleticism around the rim. Millsap's better defensively, but that's less of an issue with DAJ at the 5.

Worth noting is that Millsap was almost a Nugget prior to Horford signing with the C's per Zach Lowe (While ATL thought they could still retain Horford+Dwight). The deal was reportedly Faried + picks (per Lowe, no mention of which ones) for Millsap, and we could see this sort of offer come up again.

Normally I wouldn't be excited about a 31 year old player on a team that's barely in a weak playoff spot, but Millsap might be the most perfect fit next to Jokic and Denver has assets to burn at this point.

I expect he stays in the East though, either to Toronto or Boston. It just makes so much sense given their window and assets available.

I'm all for trading Millsap. Preferably sooner rather than later and for either someone who owns a lottery pick this year or the most young assets we can get rather than anyone who might help us win even a single game the rest of the year.
01-02-2017 , 02:01 PM
Millsap has that quality of being a good 4 in any systems in the world, no matter what the strength/weakness of the rest of your roster are. He's a superior defensive player

But he's 32 and he's having his first legit down year since he left Utah, so the chance is high that he'll never be as good as the last 3 years, Blake will not improve, but should stay at this level for his whole next contract

i'd picked Millsap over Griffin the previous 4 years but not anymore

How much of Millsap's decline is playing with Dwight and Shrooter rather than Horford and Teague? Seems like playing with the former would be much more difficult, and I'd expect to see a drop in production this year.

Blake is a much better small ball 5
He gets to be the big man in the middle

Next to deandre yes I'd rather have millsap right now

Only 3 players ever have >1000 minutes played, 58 TS%, 28 USG%, 25 AST% at age 23 or earlier: Michael Jordan, James Harden, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/....0&order_by=ws

That's of course assuming Giannis regresses some.

Would love to see where he goes in a dynasty draft right now. I need to think about it some. He's been amazing this year.

Durant
LeBron
Harden
Kawhi
Brow
Curry
Westbrook
Giannis
Gobert
Paul

Starting a team today.

Westbrook and Curry too low. Kawhi and Brow too high.

Isaiah has been so good in the forth, set a celtics record scoring 29 in the forth vs miami

What do you guys think the celts need to give up for boogie? Its such an obvious win-win deal on the table. Both nets picks and zeller seem like a good starting point

isaiah-bradley-crowder-horford and cousins is an elite 5 and would be solid bench too. could win it all and kings could have a new start
