Rudy as a roll man is elite, like easily top 3 best roll man in the league

He's really stepped up on that side, and not playing a 5 against him means free buckets at the rim or open 3s (which his teammates aren't willing to makeà .

Staps can't be a good 5 defensively if there's a great big man in front of him

That's pretty great perspective for Rudy, as the only good 5 that can shoot 3 and defend the pick & roll are Marc Gasol and Draymond Green, and even there Draymond size is a problem for the rebound.

His roll game should allow him to stay relevant against any stretch 5 that isn't good at defending P&R or isn't big enough to prevent Rudy from feasting on O-Reb

Think whatever you want Rudy Gobert is a top 10 player in this league this season and every metrics agree

I don't see how Porzingis can't guard him

I agree with you tho in general I think Gobert is a beast. His catch and finish roll game improved a bunch and he's huge and can move around wellZ

I think he lack of strength, and mostly just isn't really smart on that side yet, and playing with the knicks doesn't help

Give him Quin, Pop, Spo, Carlisle or Brad and in one year he'll be able to limit Gobert

RIP Embiid

Stamps sucks really bad at keeping guys off spots. In the Knicks/Clippers game, Blake absolutely abused him and got whatever he wanted.

Porzingis is still very much of a foulbox.

Yeah Embiid might surpass Yao Ming as the player I'd would have like to see without injuries

It wasn't really Gobert owning Staps IMO, Staps played well. It was more so just really easy for Gobert to crush when Staps is your only big and everyone is super terrible at rebounding.

gobert is the most overrated player ITL based on regular season advanced stats (which to be fair have him 7th)

he completely destroys bad, unmotivated, and inexperienced teams, but when he and the jezz face quality opponents, he looks a lot worse. specifically, the jezz are 11-18 vs teams above .500 and gobert's worst +/- numbers come against exactly the warriors and clippers (pretty bad news for their playoff chances).

this + a few other tl;dr factors lead to the jezz having the 9th highest championship equity (1.3 percent) on predictwise despite having the 4th highest net rating. dewayne dedmon on the other hand is looking really good.

To say that the preeminent rim defender ITL is the most overrated player is verging on ban territory.

IT2 is about 5x more overrated, and he's still a super good player (offensively).

He is not overrated in the slightest because it's against all teams, however I do think that Vin is somewhat right in that the better and smarter teams can mitigate Rudy's usefulness somewhat, however that is probably true for most stars is it not?
03-23-2017 , 05:01 PM
My bad I meant the advanced stats overrate him. He's underrated in general

ive inquired a few times but is anyone interested in a east LL bet? i'm interested in the field v cavs
03-23-2017 , 05:59 PM
don't know that staps is weak, but he plays a lot smaller than he is. granted he's obv not super strong, but we could have said the same about gobert a couple years ago

Watch France-Spain euros semifinal and it shows you everything you need to know about gobert's limitations. Agree that his value will be lower in the playoffs

zeke's been roughly a top 15 or 20 player in value this season.

cavs apparently have seen enough of TT taking hot ****s all over the court and have recalled larry sanders from the d league. iirc he only played one game for canton.

nice job TT

currently 22nd in defensive rating

here are the highlight youtubes - to some extent that can help you make up your own mind

Looking at the Gobert highlights: Gobert scores on KP ~3/4 times (depending on how you count) and blocks 2 shots.

Look at 3:20 to see what KP has to work with on the Knicks - he actually boxes out his man well, but there is **** all help to box out Gobert from Rose (who was on Gobert - ok a mis-match from a switch - but there's nothing to stop him trying to get his body inside Gobert's) or Thomas.

Looking at KP's highlights: he has 3 3s when guarded by Gobert and three other 2s when guarded one-on-one by Gobert. (Not shown is a fair amount of uncalled fouling )

Answer:
Spoiler:
So, no, Gobert didn't style over Porzingis

You could argue that KP gets in foul trouble too much. That's probably true, but will change as he gets more recognition as a longer time player in the league - even if he doesn't cut out some silly fouls.
