smh amare

it's more sad at this point. I'm not even actively pissed off any more, it's 2017. I more pity people who think that way.

I hope NBA does something against those ring chaser, once in february best team in west and east gets for free all the role players in the league, that's so unfair and uninteresting. Forbid the acquisition of Williams and Boguts to team in the luxury tax

If Lebron is the true GOAT, I want to watch him play more than 7 games per year, rather than cruising to finals every year, because there's tons of low-hearted guy wanting so hard to be next to him on the championship picture
Lol

Raps made a lot of great moves as did the rox. Both are quite good teams but people are mad olds join the cavs because teams waived them

Amazing

Barnes is an expert signing. Can absorb some of Green's techs

He'll have to be more aggressive. I think that 2014-15 is probably his baseline level of play at this point. 2015-2016 regular season is a peak that he will never reach again. He ran a little hot last year, especially on long dribble 3s and impossible finishes in the paint. He probably has run a little cold on both fronts this year, unless we are seeing the very beginnings of age-related decline, which is possible.

For reasons that I can't explain, consistency sometimes seems like it's the first thing to go for elite athletes, and he definitely has been less consistent this year.

I also wonder if he is giving up some relatively high percentage transition shots (for him) in exchange for extremely high percentage shots for Durant. Curry has never played with a player who finishes as well on semi-breaks as Durant does.

If Curry magically starts performing at last year's level, we are going to be subjected to a lot of idiotic discussion about whether the Warriors were better off w/o Durant.

Crappy team that are useless to the NBA are waiving positive but not exciting guys so they don't win too much and get rewarded by a high lottery pick

Number 4/5 team in the league has to give assets to get better, and the ****ing cavs and warriors can just sign at minimum good role players, even when the cavs are 5 billions over the cap

Bogut didn't even signed for Boston, even though he was a perfect fit for them, because lol they are only the 2nd best team in the east

This is why in order to get more exciting NBA play-offs, I want Love and Durant out for the rest of the year

Cliffs on Amares idiocy?

Pretty fun Sporcle:

Makes you think of both all-time greats as well as some pretty random guys from younger franchises.

Agree that the buyout>sign with contender sucks balls. On top of it sucking, it actively suppresses the trade market.

Lol, same. Was a fun one, 89/100, though I definitely got several from guessing random last names. Some of them are super obscure.

Oh I totally missed that the Hill extension talks broke down. I'm assuming they offered him the most they could, so basically he turned down an effective 3/83? It doesn't seem like he'll get a better offer in free agency, unless someone messes around and maxes him.

When's the last time one of these buyouts actually had any real effect on the playoffs?

Sam Cassell? Was the Josh Smith explosion vs Clippers after he got bought out?
03-01-2017 , 02:04 PM
PJ Brown maybe? I remember he had a couple clutch games for Boston. Too lazy to go back and check.
03-01-2017 , 02:05 PM
Josh Smith was a good one
03-01-2017 , 02:13 PM
Peja played like 20 mpg in the playoffs for the '11 Mavs after being bought out
03-01-2017 , 02:14 PM
Ok some brief google work has determined:

PJ Brown is a good one, but it looks like he was just an unsigned FA and not a buyout.

Only one I see that actually mattered was Peja to the Mavs the year they won, looks like he got 20 mpg in the playoffs and I seem to recall him drilling the lakers that series.

Doc is the biggest buy out whore in the league bar none.
03-01-2017 , 02:22 PM
PJ Brown was retired and Pierce/Allen talked him out of it at all star weekend
03-01-2017 , 02:26 PM
Oh yeah, good memory.

I just remember hating on the Lakers that year and him coming through with a few clutch buckets.

Last year Joe Johnson was a big part of Miami's late season push.

Grade 2 MCL sprain for Durant. I had that exact same injury from playing ball in 2009 and it was like 10 months until i could run again. Durant will be reevaluated in a month.
