like i said in my prev post though, this makes it sound like the sixers simply got stuck. they managed this all fairly terribly. can't offer 20 mpg to a high performing asset you are likely to move, see him blow up over lack of playtime, and expect there to be a market

Hoping PG goes to the Lakers.

Just because a player might leave at the end of the year doesn't mean you automatically give him away for whatever you can get. At some point you have to start caring about fielding a competitive roster and winning games.

He's a RFA, Philly has got a ton of cap space. He's had his injuries issues before and limited minutes to demonstrate how good he is. The fact that he went for peanuts seems to indicate his value on the market is quite low so unlikely a team was going to throw a lot of money at him. Like if he goes for 2 2nd rounders and Andersen how could a team throw 20M at him next summer? Sixers would have had an easy match most likely. Like if say the Mavs threw 4/60 at him in the offseason, Sixers match that and if that's the contract he ends up being on then it's a great one to have on your roster imo

Bucks would've been cool for Nerlens.

This is no fun. They have salary cap holds with them right? Can they like ball 15 future 2nds together in exchange for some average vet to make the salaries work?

Then the team that holds em can just retain that ball and add or subtract from it as needed. It can become this roving asset that teams pass around forever to ease out salary issues in trades - "the pick ball". Hinkies greatest legacy- a permanently intangible asset used purely to facilitate other transactions. Like the CDO of the NBA.

yeah this as well

What's the point of having 2nd rounders if best case scenario they develop into a decent player and you trade them for more 2nd rounders. Worst case scenario they become nothing.
02-23-2017 , 02:33 PM
sixers arent giving nerlens 4/60 unless they suddenly feel less good about embiid's health. you can't give that money to a 5-man elite defender who can't shoot 3s if he's getting 20 minutes a game.

Andre Roberson being traded it sounds like

PG to Celtics doesn't seem imminent.

Unless you trust Windhorst over Woj...

Not sure, maybe teams figure Philly wouldn't match so if they wanted him they could just pay him in the offseason rather than giveup a 1st?

Obviously agree with the above post that says they mishandled his career and getting value out of him.

Anybody know if woj deadline show will be streaming live online?

woj said in his most recent podcast he held off on reporting boogie when he was 99% certain because the 1% time the front office / vivek freaks out about the report and random dumb stuff happens and you lose credibility.

Some second rounders end up pretty awesome though.

If you can be a top 3-4 team itl that would have a 3-4 yr window as that team then I think you have to do it.

And who knows what would come after that, could deal Horford and have max cap room to sign Hayward while IT/AB are still underpaid I believe.
Hayward is a dad and his wife said she like Salt Lake City, moving from Jazz to Celtics is a lateral move, maybe celtics have higher upside because of that nets pick, but they also have bigger flaws IT/Horford combo is never going to title.

Regarding that nets pick. Top prospects are PGs, one of the least impactful position on title teams and also one of those position were a few players can be elite in their rookie contract.

Look at when our top PG went elite :

Russell 5th year
Curry 5th year
CP3 3rd year
Lowry 8th year
John Wall in his 7th year is starting to become one

Conley/IT/Kemba are also developing very late

Kyrie is a showtime fraud, if you get a Kyrie with your nets pick you'll still need a top 3 GOAT to win a title

Basically you have a very good chance to play your whole contract with a good player but nothing like a title bringer, by 2022/2025 yeah that nets pick could be a MVP candidate. Better re-sign for the best money and join them in 4 years

Thibs went on record yesterday saying that the wolves hadn't had any serious conversations about any deals and the wolves' owner just gave an interview where he said they "weren't remotely interested in any of the 'reported' deals" out there. Which makes sense since Rubio for Rose makes zero sense.
