I really think the magic are fake contenders, and its not just from this one loss tonight. They just look the same as last year. Gonna beat up and blow out bad and average teams and then lose to good teams in tight games. They have no crunch time scorer and they chuck up too many 3's, and howard gets in foul trouble. When teams go on runs like boston did in the playoffs last year or like the heat did tonight they dont have a guy who can get them a bucket when they really need one.

Also rashard lewis is so soft and overated. And I dont even know why duhon even steps on the court. He doesnt look for his shot at all and does literally nothing good.

I wont be surprised if the Magic have a great regular season as end up as a 1 or two seed but they arent gonna beat an elite team like miami or boston in the playoffs. And this is coming from a magic fan.

1. Miami is a superior defensive team. Held Boston to 88, Orlando to 70, seems like the Miami Heat are the NY Jets of the NBA! Pitching shut outs in every game!

2. Dschm's gonna Dschm

Man the Hornets bench is awful, and it's worse that Monty plays Peja, Jason Smith, and Wille Greenfor more than 5 min/game. Willie Green and Bellinelli ahead of Buckets in the rotation is also lol. Doubting whether Peja is even an NBA player anymore.
10-29-2010 , 11:57 PM
Not to mention they don't even have Miller yet, who is quite a bit better than Jones/Arroyo/whoever else he sucks playing time from on both ends of the floor.

Yeah, he needs to vary his rotations more. There's no reason to have a whole mess of scrubs on the court. CP, Buckets, Ariza, West, and Okafor needs to be default. Bellineli is an NBA player and I'm pretty OK with him as a backup thus far. Bayless, eh whatever. Peja has his uses, but I wonder if he should really be on the floor without Okafor to hep clean up his defensive mess. Jason Smith is AIDS. Mbenga and Mensa-Bonsuh are also whatever, they can burn some minutes and give us some fouls I guess.

It kills us when not only is CP3 out of the game, but everyone else is too.

and *** you ponies. obv that was the highlight of the season.

Does Melo want to be traded to any team in particular, or teams?
10-30-2010 , 12:11 AM
Thunder run insanely good from FT line and Detroit loses by 1 on shot by Jeff Green with 2 seconds left....lololololol
10-30-2010 , 12:13 AM
why did Cole Aldrich get no time at all? Especially with Collison out, you'd expect him to get some. Did he look that bad in preseason?

Jeff Green: 42 minutes(lol)
Krstic: 20 minutes
Ibaka: 28 minutes

I have no clue who took up the other 6 minutes at PF/C. Only other players to receive time were Durant, Thabo, Westbrook, Harden, Cook, and Maynor...did Durant play minutes at PF?

Anyone else as shocked as I am that Heat lost their first game to Celt? Funny thing is Celt lost to Calv the next night.
10-30-2010 , 12:22 AM
rusty wade+new miami heat team away from home against the reigning eastern conference champions.

i wasn't shocked. boston is very good.

There is a direct historical correlation between blowing out the bad teams and being good against good teams. This entire "they can't win the big games" strikes me as the same "clutch" nonsense that people like to spew despite a severe lack of evidence.

FWIW last year in the regular season they went 2-2 against the Cavs, 3-1 against the Celtics, and 1-1 against the Lakers. Of those 6 wins, two were by 2 points, one was by 7 points, one way by 5 points, and two were by 6 points.....so why again do you think they can't win close games against good teams?

They have no crunch time scorer
They were the 4th best offense in the league last year, so apparently thats not bothering them much. What do you think changes at the end of games that prevents them from using the same offense that led to them being the 4th best offense in the NBA?

Quote:
they chuck up too many 3's
they were tied for the 3rd best 3pt shooting team last year, why should they shoot less of them?

Ok, but they still have the collection of offensive talent that led to them being the 4th best offense last year. Why can't they just use this same effective offense at these points in time?

They've beaten the Celtics and Lebron's Cavs in the playoffs in previous years. Yes KG was out, but so was Jameer and KG isn't an elite player anymore anyway.

The game was close to a pick 'em, so nobody should've been all that surprised. Boston was only a 3.5 point favorite the next night as well, so that wasn't all that surprising either. Home court, emotion, and rest(back to back nights of games for an older team) matter far more than you're giving them credit for.

Got home from my first Wolves game of the year. Totally unexpected, but...success!

I was sitting 10 rows opposite the Minnesota bench, and I swear I could feel the steam coming off of Skiles' forehead. After the Wolfies went on a run, he just decided to yank all five of his starters at the same time. He looked like he wanted to strangle Drew Gooden. Corey Spaghetti was awesome.

Darko's contract blocked five shots, Love grabbed every rebound that came close to him...not a bad night.
10-30-2010 , 12:34 AM
Drew Gooden wasn't even worth 32mil. we all did a facepalm once MIL signed him to that deal that early in the summer
10-30-2010 , 12:35 AM
Please let Skiles actually strangle Drew Gooden.
10-30-2010 , 12:36 AM
I love John Hammond, but if the Gooden signing was his idea he deserves to be fired immediately. Anyone who thinks giving Drew Gooden that contract is a good idea shouldn't be working in the NBA at any level, not even as the beer vendor.

The Magic are going to get the #1 seed in the east and beat a tired celtics team or heat team in 7. Home court is critical for us to get back to the finals.

Also rashard was used to playing SF in his prime so idk how he's expected to do much vs big/good PF's... he's good for hitting game winners in the playoffs.

j-will could always become the backup pg again.

Just a quick retrospective showing the venom I've been spewing about this Gooden contract from day 1.

my problem with the signing is that it was one of the first signings of the summer. if a team wants to overpay for him ****ing let them.
10-30-2010 , 12:46 AM
Didn't the "AI creates a lot of O-Reb opportunities" thing get debunked a while back?

How is the young money thing different?
10-30-2010 , 12:48 AM
Suns deff. have the deepest team in the NBA atm imo.
10-30-2010 , 12:50 AM
Just got home from a LONG day of work (5AM).

Heard the Grizzlies won by 1 -- I load up LP to watch the game and it's blacked out.

WTF REPLAYS BLACKOUT, TOO?
10-30-2010 , 12:54 AM
lakers with fewest back to backs in the NBA this season.

CLEARLY NOT RIGGED
